Where should I buy a 04.5' in the CA Bay Area?

Anybody have any first hand tales of where I should or should not go? I live in Livermore, CA and would be willing to go anywhere in the east bay, or up I5 to the Oregon border. I want a dealership that will sit down with me, go over a build sheet, give me a good price and order the truck without any glitches. This seems like it may be too much to ask, because when I was in San Diego at Rancho Dodge (talked to Jack), they seemed clueless about the 325/600 even existing, and they only wanted to talk about the trucks on their lot, and give me a high guestimate on the truck I want to order.







I am a newbie, and I went over the rules, so I know that I might be violating the solicitation rules. Anyway if I am please PM or email me with Ideas on how I can get positive advice on dealers.

Anyway I would love to hear about some sales people that actually know what they are talking about, and are willing to make a fair deal.

Give Esposti Dodge in Cloverdale (30 miles north of Santa Rosa) a call. They were reasonably helpful with my 6spd troubles - they are a 'small' family dealership, not a whole lot of inventory. I haven't purchased from them but I'd give them first shot at my business.

Bought my truck over the Internet and took delivery at Redwood City Dodge. Saved a BUNCH of money. Truck is serviced at the dealership in Santa Rosa, they've done a decent job so far...

I also bought mine at Redwood City Dodge. Second vehicle I ordered at $99 over invoice through the Fleet Manager, Jim Povio. He's no longer there, but a phone call or visit to the web page would confirm that the same deal exists.

No hassle, only a wait until the truck is built and delivered. (You may be able to get the same deal on something in stock) They keep the holdback and you pay $99 over the invoice price. I ordered mine in June of '02 when the system started taking orders, and got delivery in October. (There was a hold because they ran out of the Charcoal paint, and it took me an extra long time for delivery. )

On the other hand, when I ordered my '99 Durango, the typical wait was 3 months because it was very popular. I got mine much faster because I special ordered without the 3rd seat, and it was delivered 2x quicker than most. Also, I saved about $7000 compared to what they were getting on the lot at the time.



Go to www.edmunds.com and read about Fleet prices and deals. Very good info about buying a vehicle.



There seem to be some very good deals out there, like a couple grand below invoice. Check out the fleet price, but if you can find something below invoice, I can't imagine a better deal.



The RC Dodge service dept seems pretty good, but I've only done the 15k check. I'm due for the 30k in a month or so. Otherwise I'm the frequent fluid changer, and there have been zero problems. There seems to have been a management change there last year, so things may be different. But I've heard no complaints. Just make sure you ask for the Fleet manager, and don't deal with any regular sales guys.

FWIW I've dealt with Santa Rosa Dodge a couple of times and I won't ever take a vehicle to them again. First time they did right by me on a minor A/C problem that was a warranty issue no ifs, ands or buts. On my transmission problems they didn't have a clue of what they were talking about and lost my business over it. I'll make the 30 minute drive to Esposti instead.

It might seem hard to believe but I found the downtown Oakland dealerships of both Dodge and Subaru amenable to my ideas about prices, profits, and straight talk.

I could even give you a salesman's name who I'd recommend but I know that he's now relocated from the state (as have I). Maybe it's that those Broadway dealers try harder because they don't have those big new and spacious facilities to pay for as are found in outlying communities.



Wherever you go ALWAYS go armed with real prices from other sources. Online services like "Carsdirect" are good and there's a member here who is a dealer in another state who seems willing to either sell you a truck or at least give you a price which he

COULD sell you the truck you want. Someone here will remember his username...

Go through the 3rd gen forum no eng tran threads. Look up tommygun he's on here a lot and will be willing to talk prices with you. Only downer is he's in Missouri. Stay away from the dealer that is near Pleasanton . Brentwood are good folks.
