Where to advertise truck?

Having to grow up and buy a new home. . Need out of my truck. :-{} Ive placed an ad in the classified section here, do you guys reccomend anywhere else. Just looking for someone to take the truck off my hands (take over payments) 623/mo.

$623 is almost my house payment... . no wonder I bought a used truck.

I just sold my 95 on ebay, It is a pretty good gauge and market to sell your CTD. As long as your not upside down in it.

Ditto. . that's the first place I look for a vehicle and the place I always use to sell.

BCrane I put my '03 Ram on traderonline, TDR and a local paper. Advertised for the same price all 3 locations. Got best response from TDR and local ad, zero-zip-nada from the traderonline.



Another thing to do is to do like I did with my signature. . . put "For Sale" there.



It looks like I have mine sold, it took about a month. I was asking $26k and settled on $23,5. Being mine is 4x2 it makes it harder to sell, otherwise I probably would've gotten more for it. KBB and NADA put TRADE-IN value at just under $28k. . . not a prayer at getting that! Suggested private party was $31k, and I paid just at $30k new!



One thing I noticed guys advertising their rigs are asking too much for them. Mine was the only one listed under $30k and it's pretty well loaded with leather and has a lot going for it, except no 4x4. You have to be realistic on pricing and swallow some pride.



By the way I'm selling mine for the same reason. . . buying a house. The '03 has already been replaced by a 352,000-mile '96 longbed 4x4 for $9k.

I had the opposite experience as Vaughn. I got no bites from the TDR and none from the local paper, all mine were through the trader. I wasn't in a hurry to sell my truck so I listed it high - more than what I paid for it. I got an ad that never expires, so every couple weeks I'd drop the price about $500. I ended up selling it for $1K less than I paid for it 75K miles and 2 years earlier. Granted I had put quite a bit into upgrades - gauges, exhaust, line-x, Leer top, leather, etc, but I still think I made out like a bandit, considering the transmission bands were toast when I sold it (wouldn't shift with over 1/4 throttle). The buyer didn't care, as he worked for a diesel mechanic and was going to rebuild the transmission anyways. He also was going to have to buy the same upgrades I had already put into it, so we both made out OK. The key is whether you have TIME to wait for the right buyer and get the max $$ or need to sell it quick, in which case you'll have to drop the price to make it interesting for those that don't really care about your upgrades, if any.

Thanks again. Ive gotten a few bites from TDR, the problem is the loan balance remaining. The truck is 5 payments old (5000 mi). Ive found a few dealers who claim they will 'pay off' the truck to get me into a new one. . (Yeah right) they havnt even seen it, AND I'd be going from a $40,000 truck, to about a 22,000 one... :-{}

This wouldn't be a good idea if you're planning to sell again, but if you're going to keep the next truck for a long time, you might just take them up on that offer and even if they have to charge you more than invoice for the new truck, as long as you keep it long enough to pay it off and didn't get a bad interest rate, it might be worth it to you... if you're motivated to get out of the current truck, that is...

I sold one 2 yrs ago and my experence was like Vaughn's. Very little response from the Trader, in fact I've used the Trade many times and have never made a sale through their ads. My last truck sold through the TDR classifieds to a non member. You would be surprised at how many people look at this site. Anyhow the classifieds are free so you won't be out anything.
