I know this is probably a tired question by now, but here goes anyway:

What would be the general plan for BOMBing a 160hp CTD? I will have a boost gauge and EGT gauge in place before I start. This engine will be backed up by an NV4500 (I KNOW 160hp is the rating for a '95 auto. engine). My goal is around 300hp / 750 ft. lb. I don't expect to do any heavy hauling, my application will more resemble drag racing and showing off on the street.

In addition to general advise, I also want to know whether it makes sense try and find a 215hp pump (or even a 175/180 hp pump) or whether it is more economically feasible to put delivery valves in my 160hp pump.

Thanks

You can get well over 400hp with a 160 or 180 pump... . it has been done.

You can spend $0. 00 on power BOMBs and take your cam plate out... . and disable or properly adjust your AFC.

That was good for 271HP/671ft-lbs of torque (at the wheels... ) for my 160 pumped truck.

Gauges are first, though..... don't cheap out on these.

300/700 is easy... . even on a 160 pump..... I bet you could do it with stock parts if you tried, heck I was aweful close with that old setup.

With a set of 370 injectors and 191 (or laser cut :D ) delivery valves from Piers... . you'll have close to 400hp on a 160 pump.

You'll need some timing and more boost (in the form of a bigger, better turbo... . ) to burn all that fuel, though... . :D

It smokes like it runs on coal if you load it up with the torque converter clutch locked up... . low rpm, low boost = high smoke.

Or if you just mash it from a dead stop... . it smokes... .

It's not EDM injector smoke... . it's just a nice little cloud... . enough to make people swerve behind you to avoid the soot. :D
