I've heard so much about these injectors yet I seem to be having a hard time finding a place to purchase? Can I buy these Don M EDM's directly from him? Anyone have comparison data of EDM stage 3's and DD3'S?

thanks,

Ken

I've run DD3's and Mach 3's are a major increase in HPand Torque

I would not use the Mach 3's in a towing situation.

Put for play  these injectors rock.

Mach 2. 4's and lower are recommended for towing

ENTERPRISE ENGINE PERFORMANCE

Call EEP I am running there edms and like them and I think at a good price and was qouted a great price for some serious smokers for pullin. Check with them and the others and make up your own mind.

Bob,

Isn't that what most folks say about DD3's and towing as well? What would be the downside of towing with Mach 3's? It would seem if you have the air flow, one could tow with any injector. Also as an FYI, I am moving to a different cam in the near future when I have the head o-ringed. I plan to stay with a single charger which will be the current B1 I am running now with the DD3's. Ultimate goal is a solid daily driver 500hp. thanks for the help.

I just purchased some Mach IIs from Rip, he is an excellent guy to deal with and it seems everyone has the same price at $100 off list. Its my understanding that Mach IIs equal in horsepower a DDIII at 100HP. Don's Formula I site is at http://mysite.verizon.net/res06gkt/page1.html Good luck mine are going in this weekend. BTW, rip recommended IIs since i was towing and based on my trucks setup.

EDM Mach 3's have been producing 140HP gain and you also have to factor in the torque increase too.

We can only make recommendation, The buyer makes the final decision.

BTW, The 100. 00 off sale with be running for 2 more weeks ;)

Bob,

What truck configurations have been showing the 140 gain? Ie. . what else is run, Comp, exhaust, tst, which turbo, etc...

thanks,

Ken

Ok, so I have DD3's right now, Comp and bone stock HX40. I only tow lightly (my dad's Toyota 4x4 on hunting trips), and I can keep my EGTs under control no problem. I would love a set of big EDM's, and the Mach 3's sound about right. I will keep the DD3's for towing or anytime the EDMs would be too big. I don't think twins are in the immediate future, too $$$, so if I keep everything as I have it right now, and just swap EDM 3's for my DD3's, would I be in EGT or boost overload with my single HX40?

Tom

Tom,

I doubt you'll be in boost overload. That's what wastegates are for :D . You will be pushing the limits with a 40 under towing conditions with the 3's but if your careful and the towed weight isn't too high you should be able to handle it. If I was going to keep the DD3's I would go bigger on the EDM's for a little more of this :D . Something like a 3. 5 or 4 would be more fun ;) .

Ken,

If you want 500hp you might look for a little bigger than Mach 3's. The highest Don had dynoed (no correction factor) with a B1 is ~530hp and that was with Mach 5's. Usually DD3's run around 440-450hp with 0 correction factor so you'd need closer to a 150hp injector. A 3. 5 would probably get you there but it will make towing very heavy difficult.

Oh believe me, I would love to get a set of the biggest, most disgusting EDMs there are, just to use purely for racing and other off-road fun, but only if I was absolutely going to o-ring/firering the block/head and go to twins. My feeling from reading all the posts on EDMs that I can find is that with a single turbo, and that being a lowly [stock] HX40, level 3 EDMs is basically as far as a person can go and really be able to use the full power of the injectors without seriously risking EGT or other problems.

when they say making towing heavy very difficult with the bigger injectors, how much weight are talking. anyone have any smoke pictures of the edm's in action. LOL

Tom,

Steve (DEZLPWR) runs a set of 3. 4's and Rip runs a set of 4's without problems. Of course they will get a little toasty if your hot rodding it but under normal conditions they will run very similar egt's to what you have now. Mach 3's are definately a safer bet especially if your going to try and tow with them though.

Jerret,

I consider towing heavy to be anything over about 5k pounds. Basically towing a large travel trailer or a car hauler is considered towing heavy. Light towing would be something like snowmobiles, the average boat, or motorcycles. There is a picture of my truck while I was staging for a race in the General Diesel forum in the smoke pictures thread. Granted I use the biggest injectors Don makes :D .

Thanks Idaho

This is what I was looking for. I don't see the 3. 5 on Rip's page? are they not part of the "Mach" series or do you have to call and ask? I tow 5500 pounds once a week in the summer. Also I don't mind turning the boxes off or downtuning them to control smoke and egt. I have talked to many people regaurding DD3's not atomizing very good so I am really anxious to see how much better edms really are.

Don can build you any size you want but if it is over a 3 you will most likely be charged for a 4. The reason is because they become a special item and generally take longer to make. Rip can hook you up or I can get them for you if you have problems contacting him. My email is -- email address removed -- if want to contact me outside of a pm.
