Where is the best place to buy the Racor 690 filter kit? That also offers the accessories and replacement filters. Of coarse I want the best price, service and fastest shipping. Gee what else could I ask for... ... ... Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dwayne:cool: :D

Thanks but no luck, Racor

Does'nt seem anyone has any in stock. I remember how the Dieselpage page/Diesel injection service works, I will never shop there again, ( we don't have it in stock but if you pay for it now will call you when it comes in, hours turn to days, days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months, then a big fight to get your money back. ) IMO that is not how you do business. But thanks stick for the suggestion, I called them and this is the low-down they gave me like last time. Anyway, anyone know of a place that would have the Racor 690R10, and extra filters in stock. I have called 7places with no luck.

Any more suggestions... ... .....

OOOPS this was suppose to be on my post Racor where to purchase post, moderator can you move????

That's wierd! I bought my Racor stuff through a speed shop owner-friend in Vancouver; he was able to get it from his warehouse without difficulty.

If ya can't find a source, shoot me a PM and I'll forward his phone number.

BTW, have you tried Piers or DTT or BD?... or are you looking for local supply?

Tom

Got mine from SouthEast Power Systems. Offices in Tampa, Orlando and 3 others in Florida. Search for them on Google.

I got mine with a 10 micron amd a 10 micron spare. Called in the morning, went by after lunch.

I'm sure they will ship it anywhere.

They are GOOD guys to work with too!!!!!, VERY knowledgable, LONG time in the diesel business, rebuild VP's and test on a BOSH test machine. Awsome place.

IF you can't find them on the WWW pm me.

Thanks Bob

But no luck there either I called all of them and also emailed. They are clean out of all models and no stock in filters either. At least that's is what they told me. I've many places mentioned with no luck will try again tom. Thanks all... ... .

I don't know if you have your heart set on a Racor but I think Fleetguard makes the same type of filter. It seems like I found some part numbers for a friend the other day. I'll check my sent file to see if I still have any of that info if you are interested.

Darren

Did'nt know fleetgaurd

had a fuel filter install kit with spin off filter and see through bowl. Can you upgrade that also with a heater and water sensor? I'm looking for the whole kit not just a filter. If you have those numbers send them, do you know how many gph they flow and does it come in a kit with brackets and everything to install?

The reason I went with a RACOR was the "water block" ability of the filter. Now this may be retoric / marketing, but it is patented.

I also asked two different long time diesel shops which one they would choose. Neither one sold either filter. Both choices were the RACOR for the water seperation ability.

There are other filter manufactures with filter / seperator combinations. The above is why I went the way I did.

ps Mounted it this weekend. Nice to be able to see the bowl and visually check for water.

I just called SouthEast Power Systems to see what they have in stock. As soon as they call me back I'll tell you if they have them or not.

They have 5 locations in FL and generally can do just about anything Diesel on one day turnaround.

OK, SouthEast Power called back: Mike Franke said,

Their head comes with a 2 micron filter the way they normally stock them (the way most of their customers order tham) @ $105. The heater and water sensor have a seperate price. I did not do the heater because of Florida and I put Stanadyne Performance Formula (lowers the pour point about 40*, etc etc etc) in every tank full, and did not do the water sensor because I would rather visually check it (not depend on a circuit).

I mounted mine vertically in the pocket behind the driver side under the bed. I drilled a inspection hole in my running board and can see it easily.

The replacement 10 micron filter is $19. 50.

The flow is the same (90 gph), just the 2 micron will get plugged up a little quicker than the 10 micron.

He (Mike Franke) suggested you mount it with the 2 then when it comes time to change it to the 10.

He is at -- email address removed -- and monitors it during business day EST. His phone is 800-329-7582 x112. He said he can ship it no problem.

Call him, they are really good guys to deal with.

Disclaimer: I do not work for or have any connection with SouthEast Power Systems except as a normal retail customer.

That's funny

I just spoke with a Frank there Friday and he said he was looking in the computer of all there locations and they have NO Racor 690 kits left and no replacement filters in any micron rating for that filter head. I also called the rest of there locations and they all told me the same thing. I guess I'll try again tom. Thanks for the info Bob I'll give it another shot. This is the only part I still need.

Bob you got mail.......

I would like to thank you again for all your help. I finally got a hold of the right person Mike at Southeast Power, he did have a 690R2 in stock and is also getting me some 10 micron filters with it. Thanks again. Piers was able to come up with one also but there supplier wanted much more $ so Piers sent them back. Thanks again Bob. :D

I guess this means now I have to go crawl under the truck eh.

I did mine remotely, lol

I put a fuel shutoff ball valve on mine (and made it pad lockable) while I was installing the RACOR. Finally nice to be able to disable the truck if it is going to be parked in a strange place.

I have also put in the bypass regulator and tweaked it. I think I have the final solution to the lp problems short of lp motor failure, and I carry a spare for that. I need 100k test miles before I declare it a success.

No problem with getting the connection. These guys are really good, prompt, accurate, and knowledgable. Glad it worked!
