I rented a scaffold to work on my camper last week, and was mighty impressed with how handy one is - ended up using to change out a ceiling fan, vacuum off an acoustic ceiling (boy what a difference), cut some high tree limbs, etc. Heck of a lot easier than balancing on a ladder or on a board inbetween two ladders. I have enough projects to do that I wouldn't mind having one of my own.

I had one that was 6' tall, on rollers, easily adjusted up and down (it was a ProJax by a company named BilJax), however these are like $500 and only available online as far as I can tell. I got to thinking, "Hey, all the painters and such have scaffolds, there has to be some sort of store that sells 'em. "

Anybody know of a good place to get a 6' tall, roll-around scaffold here in the DFW area? Just want something good and sturdy, and reasonably cheap.

Just checked out the website. There is a 800 number to locate a dealer. Might be able to give you suggested retail as well

Good luck

Mike,

I bought three sets of scaffold, an aluminum/plywood "plank" for each set and a set of four wheels for about 750 bucks last year. I need to look for my receipt for the breakdown. The planks are made by Werner. They are about 24" wide and lightweight and stable to work off of. The wheels are from China and don't work too well even on concrete. Figures. They neither roll or swivel well even though they have bearings. For outside work, get the largest wheels you can find. I have to look at who made the scaffolding itself. I chose to upgrade to the quick disconnect brackets rather than use wing nuts or pins.

I bought mine from a business that sells ladders, scaffolding, post jacks, etc. , etc. You should be able to locate a similar source.

Scaffolding was on my wish list for a long time. No way I could have done my barn wiring without it. You may consider two sets rather than just one. Why two? Even at just six feet off the ground, it's nice to have a guard rail for safety and to lean on. I sometimes leave one cross brace off for access to my work area.

Mike, there is quiet a lot of scaffold out there, it's just hard to find. I see some of the caster wheels at Canton from time to time. You might try running an add in one of the local shopping guides. Also I saw a pretty good looking setup at Sutherlands Lbr. recently, a little lighter than the industrial type though. I don't know if thay have a store up that way though. You also might check Home Depot and Lowes. bg

Mike- check in the Yellow Pages for companies that RENT scaffolding- most of them also sell it. Ask about USED stuff- much cheaper & as soon as you walk out with new stuff, it's used! I bought mine from Betco in Houston- they may have a DFW branch.

Any good rental place will sell what they rent, or will order what you want, just ask them. I know the rental company I worked for did have the BilJax system. They were a dealer for that company.
