Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) where to buy your ci-4 or ci-4+ oil

Relatively new to TDR, but after reading the extensive threads and articles on the oil debate I have been looking for the ci-4/4+ oils locally and can't find any. Any suggestions?

I think a lot of us are also wondering the same thing. From what I've learned, there may still be some Valvoline Blue "Classic" available. And I think Amsoil still offers a CI rated oil. Because of costs and distribution most if not all manufactures have switched completely to the CJ-4 oil.

Take heart though, it's not that the CJ-4 oil is Bad, rather it's just not as Good as CI-4 oil. I've simply chosen to reduce my oil change intervals.

I recently bought 18 gallons of Mobil 1 old stock CI-4 at Bi-Mart up in Oregon. Stuff was 23 dollars a gallon.

Apparently Wal-Mart Supertech oil is still CI-4. I even verified this the last time I did an oil change, I almost picked up 3 gal. of it. I just didn't have the heart to throw the off-brand stuff in my engine though (I do oil changes @ 7500mi anyway) and picked up Rotella. There was a test out there that showed the Supertech stuff tested better than a lot of oils out there, my brain just can't get around it being the "cheap" oil.

I was in a Napa store here in Atlanta and they had CI-4 Valvoline/Cummins oil.

I have a pretty good stock of Kendall 15W40 CL4+. I got mine from a CAT generator dealer for the right price. I just randomly googled Kendall 15w40 and got the result above. Note that the price is for 6 gallons.

A side note: It does have a little oil smell for the first 100 miles or so after an oil change.

There is a company in Ohio, D-A lubricant Co. that caries CI4+ oil. Good co. been in business since early 1900,s. I have been using their products about a year with good success. You can Google them and check out there complete line of products. phone no. 1-800-645-5823. Hope this helps.

I was recently in another Tractor Supply and they had the Penzoil CI-4+. But is was $19 a gallon. I bought it. Thanks for the replies. Any experience with the Penzoil, i can always return it.

i use nothing but the wal-mart super tech in my truck and i used it in my lat truck also and never had any issues.

I've been able to find Mobil Delvac 1300 Super in CI-4+ at our local Wal-Mart.
