I know how/where to fill on my NV5600, but I don't really know how to check the fluid level. Can somebody enlighten me?

There's some oil on the output side of my transmission. Can't tell if it's coming from the seal, but it looks like it is - not a lot but there was a drop hanging from the crossover detent bolt on the bottom. Anyone else seeing this. Seems to be a different location than the rear main seal leak some have mentioned.

Place the truck on level ground. Open up the fill flug, it is something like a 17mm Hex I think... Put your finger in there and if you can touch the lube then it has enough. If it is low then you can go buy the penzoil stuff to bring it up to level.

Do you mean the pto output side of the transmission you are seeing a leak? You can snug up the pto cover to see if that helps, I wouldn't go over 20ft/lbs for the cover bolts. Don't know what the spec is exactly but they should not need to be real tight. If they are already that tight I would pull the cover and change out the lube and reseal it right.
