Where to connect boost tube

hello all! I just bought a 2004.5 3500 [cummins of course!] now i'm swapping some of the mods. from my old truck [98.5 24valve] gauges/intake/flo-pro exh. On the 98 i t'ed the boost tube to the waste gate hose & that worked fine., i did the same on the 04 but gauge dosn't move...i can hear turbo, power feels good... maybe i have a leak. one reason i'm asking where to connect is in my search [google] all the finds showed connecting to intake manifold [replacing a bolt w/a adapter bolt for the tube] also, what is the sensor on the turbo compressor housing where the waste gate tube connects? hope i'm clear... my 1st post! really like this forum...matthew.

What you call a sensor at the turbo is actually the boost controller solenoid, I tapped a hole into the intake elbow for the Boost Gauge.
You should get close to 2bar Boost at WOT, if you get only 1.2bar then your solenoid is out of order.

thanks! so if i'm understanding u Ozy,.. if i try to monitor boost @ the solenoid.. i wont have a reading until solenoid opens the wastegate? sorry,.. but i'm a yankee.... 2bar, is that, say,. 25 psi? thanks again!! MATTHEW

Close to 30psi, may 28-29 or so.
The Solenoid works internally, I think there isn't a place to pickup boost.

This is what I did, also ran a copper line away from the heat then connected the plastic (polyethylene) tube to the Boost Module.

When the solenoid starts opening you will get an incorrect reading also. The solenoid modulates the signal so the mechanical Wastegate sees less than 24psi even when peak steady state boost is 28-30 psi. Boost bolt on manifold or dill/tap air horn for a fitting are your best bets.

I'm giving away the boost bolt in pic if anyone is interested, I'll even pay for shipping, if it's a couple of bucks. I drilled and tapped the air horn this weekend.

:thumbsup: I have purchased a Smarty Touch, so i have my boost from the OBD port now. As of now, i just capped the boost bolt.
