Probably went out with the lifetime warranty. Craftsman quality has gone downhill, more especially since they were bought out by K-Mart.

This must be a old wives tale. Sears bought out Kmart so shouldn't be any

difference in quality of your Craftsman Tool. :-{}

I am looking for a in. lb. torque wrench to do a gear change, but I would like to have it for the trans service also. Does anyone know of a good place to find one that is for a resonable price? I have looked around and could not find one at the local parts stores.
I would guess Sears (Craftsman) I have their Foot Pound Torque wrench, no problems. I know there is cheaper ones but when it comes to torque wrench I want reasonably good quality.

How good are Husky Torque wrench from Home Depot?

i like mine. . the only thing i don't like about it is the plastic handle. . if you use it daily, the paint marks will wear off making it impossable to read [did that with a proto one i had at work]

home depot at one point up here had a trade in/up deal allowing you to trade in a crapsman, snapon, mac, mastercraft pro tool if broken for a husky. . i did that with the torque wrench. . sears one said lifetime warrenty on the box, the recept and on the tool, but no go. . they said only 1 year warrenty on them. . great customer service at my local homedepot

Home Depot did say that they do have a lifetime warranty provided I don't use it for a hammer, so how can I go wrong. They are ft lb.

i think have seen some in/lbs wrenches there too [husky]. . and if not, get the 3/8" one and convert ft/lbs to in/lbs
[i had a 1600 in/lbs 1/2" drive wrench kicking around at work :rolleyes:]
