Hello,

Have a friend who is trying to find Cheveron Delo 400 5w-40 synthetic or Mobil Delvac1 5w-40 on Long Island New York and says it's no where to be found. I told him my fellow TDR members from Long Island would come through and tell us where they get theirs. Can anyone provide a place to get either of these on or around Long Island? (he works in the city so that might be a option as well)

Thanks a million,

Should be in phone book....

Ray,

Should be able to find a Mobil distributor in there. There's gotta be one somewhere in or around LI. Look under petroleum or lubricants. Still no luck? Call 1-800-9-mobil1. They should be able to help you out!:D

I wish I had a phone book

SCooke,

Thanks but he swears he's exhausted all options and can't find it anywhere so he's ready to use Castrol Syntec in his diesel engine. I've tried to talk him into using delo, or delvac1 as he insists it's of the weight 5w-40 but he says it's no where to be found on the island. I told him there had to be available in/near the largest city in this country and he said it's not. If I had a phone book I'd call myself but as you can see, I'm in Idaho.

Thanks,

Ray, For Mobil Delvac-1 try the following:

Century Petroleum, Ltd.

147 Gazza Blvd.

Farmingdale, N. Y. 11735

Phone: 631-752-1688

OK Petroleum Distributors

850 Main St.

R. W. E. Distributors

1180 Route 109

For Chevron Delo 5W-40 the only thing I could find as far as distributors is in New Jersey:

Prime Lube, Inc.

800 Roosevelt Ave.

Carteret, N. J. 07008

Phone: 1-800-525-6995

I know the Mobil Delvac-1 is expensive. The Delo 5W-40 I have no idea on the cost. Hopefully this will give you a place to start. -Glen

Ok, so it's not the brand you wanted, but Last week I saw a some Rotella T 5w-40 full synthetic @ $18. 88/gal in a Wal-Mart.

The Wal-Mart was in Missoula, MT. So I guess if one can get it they all should have access?? Well worth a try anyway.

Thanks for the help,

You're not kidding Delvac1 is expensive ($73/gallon). The local Wal-Mart does carry the Shell Rotella 5w-40 synthetic and Prime Lube will order the Delo 400 for him at $87/case of 6 gallon jugs. I knew you guys would come through. If anyone knows a retailer on Long Island that carries it in stock that would be great.

Thanks,

Costco

Joe,

Yeah, that's where I get my Delo 400. I don't know if they have costco in New York (i think it's a left coast thing). Also, they only carry the 15w-40 dino oil, not the 5w-40 synthetic.

Thanks,

Delvac1: $73 a gallon?

Ray,

That can't be right! I pay $62 for 3 gallons. $62 for 3 gallons is bad enough, but $73 for one gallon would be insane. .

That's what he said

This is the place I called and he had it in stock (1 gallon jugs) and he said the price was $73 each. I don't think I miss understood but I may have.

I misunderstood

My buddy called and the Delvac is $73 for a case of 4 gallons (thats better). He's off to get some now.

Thanks for the help guys.

Still Looking

Well... ... after calling this guy two times and being told each time he had Delvac-1 5w-40 synthetic in stock my buddy drove two hours to pick it up. When he arrived he was made to wait until a "worker" got back from lunch so he could goto the warehouse and get it. When the warehouse worker went out to get it he came back and said "sorry, i can't find it" and sent him home. Needless to say, he's still looking for Delvac-1.

Ray,

Don't feel to bad because I cannot locate some Delo 5w40 anywhere around here. I did however finally locate a Chevron Dist. , but I am still awaiting my return phone call from there sales rep (that was 2 days ago). The Delvac 1 I can get almost anywhere around here. Mobil seems to be the #1 fleet lubricant here in West Michigan. Too bad it's not Delvac that I want to run.

I hope you were joking about your friend considering Syntec. Syntec is not rated for use in a diesel engine. It sounds like you already advised him against using it.

Delvac 1

I have bought from Century Petroleum in Farmingdale, LI. They will also sell in 5 gallon pails. Price is about $2 a gallon cheaper. They were good to deal with.
