I asked a friend of mine who is a Denver cop about this today. He said much the same thing that I did. He also added that it mostly sounds like a violated officer ticket (you made a cop mad). The biggest thing is how does the city D. A. and the judge look at the situation. While I doubt that it will get completely thrown out, although it could happen, it will most likely be reduced to the lowest possible fine.
It is worth going to court, talking to a lawyer, etc.
Also, becareful of "beat the system" ideas. They usually bite you in the fanny. In Colorado, if you have outstanding tickets you can not renew your licence.
