Where to get 3M clear bra tape?

Hey guys,



I just bought the mopar molded mud flaps for my new truck and have read here that I need to put some 3M clear bra tape on them to avoid paint rubbing. Where can you find this product - I have looked a couple of places and cannot find anything!

DarkRam - I found that website - all you can do is find people to install it for you. I am looking to buy just the tape myself. Someone told me to check autobody paint supply stores so I will try there. Thanks for the help though and if anyone else knows where to get the tape it would be appreciated.

I just bought some at Geno's Garage. I think it was $2. 75 per foot. He has ads in the TDR mag.

I would, and did, put the "clear bra" on the truck itself so when the mudflaps vibrate or move, they're rubbing on the tape. If you put it on the flaps, it'll be the tape rubbing on the paint instead of the flap rubbing on the tape, which won't help . At least that's my theory.



I got the material from a dealership that installs it and I have a connection there. A lot of window tinting places also install clear bra and might sell you some.

Someone once suggested mat tape. the stuff used to hold wrestling mats together. Sporting goods store may have it and it might be cheaper.

Most auto window tinting places sell and install this, too. I know the place that did my windows does this, too, for dealers when they install camper shells and the hard plastic bed liners.

The entire front of my truck (sport pkg) is covered in the 3M Scotchcal. A company called Invinca Shield makes computer laser cut kits for almost all vehicles. I got mine put on a few hours after picking up my truck and 38k later I'm pleased to have no rock dings at all. You can barely see the stuff. I'm in no way affiliated with them but I highly recommend it. They may sell rocker panel kits too, not sure. I think it's www.invinca-shield.com but if not try google, they're in NC. There are some pics in my gallery of it.

I have the Scotchgard on the entire front of the truck, the first 6" of the roof above the windshield, and up to the bottom of the moldings on the rockers the entire length of the truck. over 6200 on the truck and drive a dirt/gravel road every day and half of the city is torn up in prep for the Superbowl, not a scratch all the soot wipes right off. only wish that the installer went up a few inches higher, the molded Mopar flaps are a bit taller than where it applied so a small strip of molding tape on the flap holds it to the body, it wont rub since its attached, and makes the instal a bit cleaner. The tape can be picked up at most automotive repair shop suppliers.
