I have found possibly a Dana 80 axle that will work in my 92, but it has 4. 10 gears, and I was wondering how much to budget for gears, and where to get them. I have a few contacts locally that sell Spicer gear sets, but they need the numbers from the Bill of Materials, which I dont have. I know, they are on ebay all the time, and you can find them here and there... ..... I want them now, and I want new one, though. Plus, I am looking at a few other Dana 70s that are 3. 54s.

The Dana70 3. 54s may be up for sale if this goes through.

Thanks a lot,

Daniel

Daniel, you will also need the carrier from the 3. 54's ( either lsd or open ) as it is different from the 4. 10 carrier, ( one is "thicker" than the other and spaces it's ring gear in or out to its respective pinion gear ). Or, you could keep the 4. 10's and add a gear vendors O/D ( pretty darn pricey though ) Just how bad is your dana 70 anyway?... ... ... ... Kenny

My Dana 70 isnt the problem; it's the spindle on the left end that allows 1/16-1/8 inch up and down play that is the problem. It will cost as much or more to get the spindle fixed as it will to get the D80 I am going to get. Plus, swaybar comes with the Dana 80... .

If I gotta get a new carrier, I may as well go for higher gearing, too.

I bought a complete 3. 54 Dana 80 from car-part.com for less than I could buy the parts to convert from the 4. 10's I had. I was able to sell the 4. 10 rear axle for about the same amount on e-bay to a man with a chevy pulling truck. Wound up costing me less than $100 to swap gears.
