Does anybody know where I can get a chip for an 01 tahoe? I do not know much about Gas motors. . but need to power chip this ride. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have never had a chip on a gas motor but from what I had read the gains are pretty minimal and many require using premium fuel. Also check the dyno curves many do not add any power until over 4K RPM and then it is very little.

Westers custom programming and Nelsons programming are currently the 2 best on the market in aftermarket programming. Check out the truck forums on ls1.com and gmtrucks. The quicker guys seem to prefer the Nelsons over Westers but both are better performance wise the hypertech and the other hand held companies out there. They both get rid of the torque management.

Had a Hypertech on a 91 GMC 350, and have to agree with the previous posters, required Premium gas $$$$, and not much gain, of course the mileage was never great anyway! Had to add a low temp thermostat per the chip directions (they furnished theirs for additional $$$)

Maybe try the Westers and Nelson programming as suggested previously.

Would it be better to start with a cold air intake then? I'm trying to help a buddy get a little bit more HP out of his tahoe. I'm not too literate when it comes to gas motors, so I'm not sure where to begin.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Looking in the latest issue of one of the trade magazines and the ads, it seems that the hot items for gas, are chips (your choice of poison), programmers (already discussed), air intake (K & N, but we know what kind of discussion that causes w/diesels, and others same as w/diesels), headers and/or cat back exhausts, and MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS.

Granatelli seems the hot brand for this, according to the adds, + 10-23HP, 47% more airflow, installs in about 10 minutes, compatible with all electronics and aftermarket performance equipment, WON'T VOID WARRANTY, INDUSTRY LEADING????... .

... and there is always BANKS gas aftermarket add on stuff!

Don't know myself, but this seems to be what is advertised heavily, and each seems to say 10HP and up, SO?
