I just got a new Volant filter & box with no holes in the box (except for connecting the filter to the tube) so I could wait till it's in to decide where I would go for clean air.

I do a lot of off-roading, lots of mud, lots of water, lots of dust. This is why I didn't get an "open" filter like the BHAF or Mega Cannon.

With that in mind, where should I go for my air supply?

The cal gives me a 3-inch entry (that's how big the nipple is on the air box).

I'm thinking about leaving the box sealed and replacing the top cover with an adapter that goes to 5- or 6-inch tube straigt up. Then a matching hole in the hood with a pre-cleaner like this:

This seems pretty wild, but might give me a good source for clean air. Not to mention a serious pucker-factor from cutting a HUGE hole in my hood.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kyle

Kyle, i got your PM. just hold out for a few weeks. i will post some pictures of my setup and you can judge from there. its a mustang hood scoop centered in the hood and a tube feeding the air box from there.

no offense, but i wouldnt want that thing hanging out of my hood :D

Me neither!

After I sized the precleaner and figured out how big it is, I wouldn't want that thing on my hood either. Just picture a 3-gallon paint bucket over in front of the passenger
