So anyway -- can you w/o damage? Does it heat anything other than the "block?"

There was sledpulling a Ford truck at SDX w/ a 12v Cummins. Was pretty hot out and they had it plugged in. :-laf

Before I bought a BOMBed cord from Peterbilt, I got a regular cord at the Mack dealer for $9.

ebay

If anybody is interested, I found four block heater cords on ebay today, two were OEM part #5086737AB and the starting bids were around 20 bucks. The other two looked like after market versions with a BIN price of 24 bucks with 4 bucks shipping. Good Luck!

Ok I was told by the dealer these trucks do not need to be heated so I orded mine with out . Am I corect in saying all the 05s have the block heater but I must buy the cord? And if so are they hard to install. Ski

Does the same apply to the '06s? I believe mine doesn't have the cord, at least I haven't seen one. I prefer to plug my truck in at night during the winter months, even if it is below 60*. Just personal preference I guess, makes for shorter morning warm up idling as well as easier on the engine than firing it up ice cold.

I plug mine in even around overnight lows of 45-50, I don't pay electric, and it helps my mileage on a 13 mile trip to work. Any help I can get to warm up a 1000 pound motor, and a small aquariums worth of coolant, I will do.
