Where do I get gauges to use to measure the fuel pressure. I wan't to see if the supply to the in injection pump is o. k. I think either the overflow valve is bad or lift pump is bad. Truck has lost some hp.
Also where can a guy get a service or repair manual. Prefably a one from Cummins?

I got my service manual from Colorado Kenworth for around $75. You have to get the engine information off the data plate on the driver's side of the timing cover to get the correct manual, but it is easy to find. Any big truck dealer should be able to order it for you.

If you want a temporary under the hood gauge buy the adaptor from TST. You can then use a grease gun hose with a 1/8" coupling and a 30-40 psi pressure gauge available most anywhere to take the pressure. Another option is to buy the TST adaptor and screw your boost gauge line into it, you will then only need a 1/8" plug for your boost port hole, maybe even the one you took out to install the boost line.

Going with Bill's suggestions before, I got the adapter from TST, got a boost gauge install kit, contains all the fittings tubing and stuff like that, and got a 60# liquid filled pressure gauge. Dont got more that $42 in it and can hook it up any time. Didnt go with permenant mount.

Just checked this weekend. 19psi at idle and 27psi at 2000RPM no load.

Hey Piers, I know it was 2 weeks ago, but you wouldnt happen to remember what the fuel pressure reading were on my truck using your fancy gauge. Assuming yours is calibrated and I want to see how this home made gadget is comparing.

I'm very happy w/ the TST gauges. Gauges are a personal preference & there are many options available. Either way, you can get the fuel adapter to easily screw into the outlet side of filter from TST. http://www.tstproducts.com/gauge_kits.html
