Hi,

I have a 1999 2500.

I would like to know where is the best place to get the service manuals??

Are they worth the big bucks that they go for in the back of the owners manual??

Are they very complete??

I have a Cummins... Do they cover it very well, or should I look for another manual for the powerplant??

Thank You

The "factory" manual is the "bible" for your Dodge. It's full of all kinds of info on everything from fluid capacity for the rear, to torque specs for a rod bolt. It's kinda' pricey, but worth every penny. It also covers the Cummins very well.

VeeTenJeff,

When I go to the TechAuthority.com it only shows a 2001 ram suppliment. Does that mean we buy the 2000 RAM manual and the 2001 suppliment?

OK, I have the scoop on the manuals. Call tech authority, 440-572-0725 their web site is not up to date. The 2001 manuals are complete, no more supplements. These 2001 manuaals are not reflected on the web site. I got lucky, the early 2001 rams (drum rear brakes) use the 2000 manuals. I confirmend this with DC cust service. There is a cut off in VIN that they are using as a guide. I dropped the phone (and hung up) before I got to ask what the actual cut-off vin was... . sorry.

The manuals are top-notch. well worth the dough.

A friend of mine from Pasco won't tell me where/who he got his from, but says the price wasn't that good and he had to wait for six months to get it. Look elsewhere!

I got mine from TechAuthority sometime in March. 2001 books are complete. You do not order the supplement anymore. The sales gal said 7-10 days for delivery. They were sitting on my front porch 4 days later. They cover Ram Truck 1500-3500 2 & 4 wheel drive including all diesel . 2 books about the 1500 pages each. I believe you could completely tear apart a truck and put it back together including all the spot welds. The info ranges from how to diagnose and rebuild all the transmissions (including 6 speed) to how to take off a manual window crank. The cost was just north of $100. I look at it this way, $100 will get you about 2 hours worth of labor at the dealer, not to mention the headache of scheduling an apointment for some Mickey Mouse repair. If you use it one time to replace that window crank, then it pays for itself. The second time it is free info, time and money saved.

R The Tech Autority Manuals the same as the Dodge manuals U would order from the back of the owners manual?? I would guess not, but don't really know...

R they Better than the Dodge manuals?? It sounds like they could be costing the same price, but be a better product? I wouldn't know and would like to hear from someone who might know??

Thanks for all the info... it never hurts to be informed. .
