I have Isspro gauge now and it is the 3rd one and I cannot believe the readings I am getting. I am basically stock w/4" exh and BHAF and thats all but I can get 1350 to 1400 on the level no load. Came back over I-70 from Denver towards MOAb and I couldnt keep it under 1350.

shouldnt run that hot. Where can I get the SPA guage that GENO'S said was the best. They do not list in their catalog. I want to put my EZ comp on but not until I get a gauge I can trust.

Thanks for the info guys but I see that SPA is a combo gauge and I do not need another boost gauge. What is your recommendation for a EGT stand alone gauge besides the Isspro.

Thanks for your help

Dave,

The SPA EGT gauge is the best and fastest reacting gauge on the market!

You could get the EGT/Boost gauge and keep your analog Boost gauge and have the best of both worlds! You would be able to see the sweep of the analog gauge(The only thing I miss), but get the benefit of recalling max. boost and setting warning limits with the SPA ;)

Just a suggestion :)

I'll agree with the fastest reacting part although the part about being the best is true BS!

I had three first gen. $PA combination gauges (installed April 2000)...

Fuel Press. /Oil Temp.

Boost/EGT

Trans. Temp. /Rear End Temp.

The Fuel Press. /Oil Temp. gauge had all the LED(s) (internal, i. e. , NOT replaceable!) burn out, and the Boost/EGT gauge died completely! I agreed to upgrade my "old" $PA gauges to the newer (and better  ) Mark II series, being assured that all the problems had been taken care of.

The $PA Mark II series gauges were even nicer and more user friendly than their previous offerings however, that's where it ended! I had more burnt out LEDs, sending them back repeatedly for warranty replacement, all the while being assured that the LED problems had been taken care of.

Finally, I said, to he!! with it and decided to bail.

After much research, I decided to go with the Autometer Sport Comp gauges specially made for Diesel Dynamics. BTW, their gauges have the black face, white markings, bright red/orange needle with a black bezel... and no, they aren't Z Series. I have their 0-60 PSI boost gauge, their 0-1,600 degree F. pyrometer, their 140-300 degree F. trans. temp. gauge, and their 0-35 PSI mechanical fuel press. gauge. Very nice looking, with parameters that are tailored to our Cummins TDs. Now I just have to find the time to install them.

Dave, for the money, you can't beat the Autometer gauges. The Pyro is quick and accurate. And best of all, they last. I run them in the heat of Arizona, and they perform flawlessly. If you have the Isspro's now, the Autometer Z series(or Diesel Dynamics black face), will look similar.

Oh ya, and the best part...

all the $PA replacement gauges have had varying diameter gauge bodies. That makes it real fun if you are using them in an A-pillar configuration... i. e. , friction fit to the gauge body instead of a retention clamp.

John,

Sorry to hear of your problems with them :(

Mine were installed in Aug. 2000 and the only problem I've had was the thermocoupler died about a year ago. But they don't last forever anyway ;)

I too upgraded the heads to the new ones about 2 mo. ago. I like them much better! The display doesn't "fade" when the truck sits in the sun on a 100 degree day anymore, the programming is much better, I like the greater resolution on all the gauges and EGT's at 1 degree increments instead of 7, and I like the dimming feature.

I hope you have better luck with your Sport Comps! :D
