Where to get visor?

Who is the best manufacturer of the visors for over the windsheild? I have heard mixed reveiws about them in regards to ratteling, wipers not working etc. Does any one make these without those issues?



I think I want to get one of these. Who makes the best, most functional and where to get it. Does anyone make a style that goes around the factory clearance lights? Also, who makes the ones without clearance lights build in and does anyone make these with a airvent in the top so the air does not build up underneath? Thanks so much,

Found mine one eBay, since Lund supposedly doesn't make the "Sun Visor" or "Moon Visor" for these older trucks any longer. I forget the part number for the non-lighted visor, but let me go find it for you.

Ok, so the guy I got mine from has 3 (at least) different part numbers that seem to work with our trucks.



I bought a 12021, but you can also get a 12027 or a 12111, they're all the same, for older Dodge pickups, however the 12021 is for a RamCharger, and the others are for Dodge pickups, the first being for short cabs, and the second for extended cabs..... not that there's a BIT of difference between the 3... ... . go figure. Anyway, the seller's name (eBay store) is AutoAccessories4Less. Good luck.

One thing I will add to the mix is, that if you're over 6ft tall, and scoot the seat back, you will be leaning way forward for every stoplight to see when it changes. I borrowed my father's W350 (NICE truck, ran like a Ford, though) for a few weeks several years ago, and grew to hate the visor in town. They look nice, though. Didnt have many aerodynamic issues, either. i believe his was a Lund, purchased around 94-95.

Although I must admit I like the look of the truck with a visor, I had one on my truck for four years, I must recommend against installing one for two reasons; first it is hard to see traffic lights without moving forward in the seat, second and in my opinion most important, it provides another opportiunity for water to get inside the cab roof and add to the already significant potential of rust developing in the top center front of cab roof. I have since removed my visor (lund) and have had the holes welded shut and repaired. My two cents worth... ... ... .....

For the traffic lights, I position the hood so that I can see the reflection. I used to keep a piece of polished aluminum on the dash for the same purpose. And so what if you don't see the light change. If they honk their horns, just lay down a cloud of smoke and smile at them if they catch up to you.



By the way, my wife renamed my truck the other day. It's now called "The Global Warmer. "

I was speaking with Lund, and they daid that you cannot use the reg cab visor with a club cab. Any one have any thought? Is it the roofline shape? Drip rail? I thought that both trucks were the same? Lund said that they would not have two different part numbers if they were the same. Any thoughts?

Well according to what I posted above, there are 3 part numbers for 3 different configurations of vehicle that according to many people have the same front clip, same windshield, same doors, same interior, etc. , etc. , etc. Personally, I ended up with a visor specified for a RamCharger, not a club cab pickup, and it fits perfectly. My '92 came with one from the P/O. I don't know the part number on it, but it's exactly the same as the one I just got a month ago; in fact, I test-fit the one from the '92 on the '93 roof, just so I could get an idea of how it'd look.

For 1st gen trucks the front roof lines are the same for ALL 1972 to 93 100 to 350 trucks and ramchargers... the 100 to 350 visor will also fit all D and W series 600 threw 800 conventional trucks built 1973 threw 1977...



Visors like the one Lund makes are a real bad idea to use. They warp the hell out of the roof skin . They also LEAK water into the roof area and cause the roof to rust out ! Salt water in the winter blowing over the roof does wonders

when it leaks in the bolt holes. And lets not forget those leaking cab clearance lights on the 350's



For those that do not wish to heed my warnings. I have about 12 of the Lund visors that I have removed from trucks... I would be more than glad to get rid of them... Those interested please send me an EMAIL





If I felt that I had to have a visor . I would spot weld studs to the roof with out drilling any holes in it. . Then use stainless acorn nuts and washers to hold

the visor on .



As for cab clearance lights , remove the head liner . Drill access holes under

each of the lights. Get some general auto body calk (NOT SILICONE) . Then

calk over each screw hole and the large center hole... TIP, the center hole is large. Use round knock out slugs from home electrical boxes to help fill the hole with min. calk. . You might also want to replace all the bulbs before you calk them in... 3M sells spray can of "interior panel rust preventer" Spray it

all threw the interior roof panel areas. Especially towards the windshield area.



If you live in the "rust belt" where they salt the roads . What I mentioned

above is very critical !

I have had a lund visor on my truck for the last 6 yrs and although i like the looks i would never do it again for all the reasons listed above plus the fact that it hurts fuel miliage and has to be removed every time you break your windshield.

1. The roof rusts out anyway so a visor causing this is not an issue.

My last truck didn't have the leaking roof issue, and honestly, with my new(er) truck, I ran visor-less for about 5 months didn't notice any change in MPG from pre to post visor days. Besides, how much could it really affect MPG anyway, its got openings in it to let the air rush through - hence the reason it dosen't get ripped off going down the highway. The only issue I've ever had is that in windy conditions with the wipers on, sometimes the tip of the driver's wiper will catch the edge of the visor and make a noise not unlike it's being torn from the wiper arm.



While we're here talking about Lund products... . does anyone know if there were ever side window covers (either the louvered style or the ones with oval/oblong cutouts) made for our club cab trucks? I'd love to find a set.

My 90 has a set of the side window covers (steel/chrome) and Tugger installed a set of black plastic ones on his current truck which I may remove when I get that truck of his.

AAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Just say no to visors! I had a Lund, it was noisy, the wipers worked crappy, and I lost a solid 1. 5 mpg on fuel economy. It does not let enough air through. I ran with two different bug shields and no bug shield, and stock front bumper, and it was all terrible. The wiper will catch the visor in the wind, and after about 3 times of catching the wiper fails, breaks apart, and then you are driving down the interstate in the rain with no wiper, wondering what you are going to do. I have had this happen 3 times.



Yep they look good standing still at the truck show. Any other time they are terrible. I would never, ever, ever, put one on a first gen dodge.



I attribute my crappy, leaking roof to the fact that I had a visor, and now havel 6 holes in the roof. I've had two trucks with factory clearance lights and no leaks. My 93 will get those the day my roof gets fixed.



This is my two cents, I had a lund on my truck from sometime in 1996 to about 2003. I did not realize how much I hated the visor until it was gone. I should have broken it up into small pieces, but I made the mistake to give it to a friend thats going to install it on a crew cab. Please don't do it James... ... ... .
