Bill, you make an excellent point that I figured was common sense...
having machine work done halfway across the world is foolish... especially if you're joe blow peon like me. Scheid doesn't know me or care who I am...
neither does RayMac or DonM for that matter, but I can walk in and talk w/ them face to face. and IF, god forbid, there's a problem, I can go BACK and talk w/ them face to face with the engine in tow, and we can figure out a solution.
I've seen it go bad hundreds of times w/ guys having engines built at exotic shops in far away lands... there's less incentive for the machinist to do a PERFECT job if they know they're never going to see you again (or if they never see you to begin with!)
not saying ANYTHING bad about ANYONE here, but mistakes CAN happen!!
if you live in bumbletruck egypt, that's a different story, but if you've got a quality machinist that's local, I HIGHLY recomend using them, they have the same machines as the Wizard of Diesel...
