OK, because of financial and time constraints Ive decided to put a 4bt or 6at motor in my truck. First off, which one would be better for my K5. It weighs in at around 5500 lbs and has 410 gears with 35" tires. Ill be using my SM 465 transmission which has no overdrive. Which motor would be the best for a lot of highway driving with a lot of offroading on the weekends. Which one is easier to bomb. Where is the cheapest and best place to find them. I live in Illinois so somewhere close to here would be preferable. Thanks in advance.

OK, thats what I thought Id hear. Ill be going with the 4BT and putting some better injectors on it with a cam plate and a governor spring kit and propane injection. Ive got 35" tires right now so the effective gear ratio is in the lower 3s.

I JUST PUT A 4BT IN MY 91 WRANGLER. DRIVEABILITY IS GREAT. THE ONLY THING I'VE DONE IS CHANGE TO A 12CM HOUSING SO FAR. I'M RUNNING A FIVE SPEED AND HAVE GOOD TOP END. WITH 36" TIRES AND 4. 10'S I CAN CRUISE 60 COMFORTABLY IN 4TH AND I HAVEN'T BEEN OVER 70 YET BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF POWER AND GEAR LEFT IN 5TH, WOULD PROBABLY TOP OFF AROUND 90 I GUESS
