I'm wondering where to get best temps for transmission-------------right now I have sensor in port on pass. side of transmission and gauge seems to work fine with my max temp reaching about 190* towing my 30TT but I'm wondering if that is the best place for it. I do have the cooler line with fitting for sensor but cant get it to work------I guessing it's not grounded-----and someone also said to get transmission pan with port and put sensor there.

Thanks

JIM

I will be installing ine today and am gonna use the test port also. my transmission guy said there maybe a 10* difference at the output line if there is one at all... what rating thing are you talking about???

Seems like every time I post there is a little envelope off to the side... ... ... Is this a reminder to myself that I posted in this thread

I had over the years experienced issues with trans temps and have had techs give a range of where to mount the sensors and reasons why these were the ideal locations for readings. I decieded to mount sensors in both the output line and the bottom of the pan and use a toggle switch on the piller to switch between. When towing I can see as much as 20 degrees difference. When running empty I will see approx 5 to 10 degress variance, output side tends to run a little warmer of the two.

I do not think there is a right or wrong answer to this, but more importantly, monitor the readings and if you see the temps climb more then normal, look into it.

Many will say the outlet line where you are seeing elevated temps from the converter.

I put mine in the front of the pan up by the factory thermistor. I did this because all the data/numbers out there for what is good & bad numbers are based on pan temperatures.

I also had the opportunity to use the trans port as I had a second sensor and found they were within 1 degree of each other so there really was no need to tap the pan.
