My $5 CB Mount

Well guys I’m looking to mount a BC350C scanner which is pretty small in size as well as a FT-1500M Yaesu 2M Amateur Radio. But I’m really not sure where I can mount something like that in the truck. . I really can't see any good spots so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I have one of those scanners. I was going to mount mine to the side of the cb which is on the lower dash panel, but it ended up being to close to the 4wd shifter for my liking. I'm still looking for a good spot. I had my cb on a BGBW mount, but it was easier to operate on the lower dash panel and it allowed the middle seat to be in use again if needed. Still got the mount in there, maybe i'll do some more moving around and see what works best.

My solution for my CB mount might work for you. If I knew how to post a picture I'd do it but I can't seem to find any instructions for posting photos.

I decided I wanted my CB mounted on the transmission hump just ahead of the center seat, but being “cheap” whenever possible, I didn’t want to spend the money for the mounts I’d seen. Solution: went to Menard’s and bought two “L” shaped, 4X7 inch shelf brackets that had snap-on plastic decorative covers over the bare metal, screwed them onto the transmission hump at the appropriate spacing, ran the wires under the carpet, and now have a very satisfactory and attractive mount. Total cost for brackets and screws—less than $5. 00!

I put my scanner on a Pace Industries Shelf-it from JC Whitney. You take the sun visors off and it mounts to the same holes and goes from one side of the truck to the other. It is made to re-mount the sun visors to the Shelf-it but the center hole has to be opened up a little. You could mount a lot of stuff to one of these.

From engcogod-- "try uploading it to your image gallery if your not sure how to upload a picture. . then everyone can still look at it... "

I hate to reveal my ignorance before the whole world but I'm not familiar at all with even the basics of photo sharing. I've e-mailed photos to my kids but other than that I'm at a loss!

The CB is nearly vertical (adjustable). Very visible, controls are very close.

Yes, it is a split mount. Brackets are mounted the proper distance for the mounting bracket that came with the factory unit CB to bolt to them. Then the CB simply attaches to the factory bracket.

Get Big Bob's custom bracket. I've got one and the quality and workmanship is excellent. And when you're done comment in my thread about which radio to buy, I've got a bad *** antenna arrangement and an awesome mount, and no radio.

OK, I managed to post my pictures in a new thread. Look for them under "My $5 CB Mount".

Next time I'll know how to post them in the correct thread.
