I've mounted previous ones down by the brake, and forward of my knee, but when I need the quick grab to fully activate the trailer brakes I want it handier than bending forward and reaching down. I mounted my prodigy in the left half of the approximate 2"H by 8"W by 5"D cubby just below the heater controls. It was easy to drill a hole in the back (actually popped some of the dash out, and that was easy too) of that cubbyhole large enough to slip the connector that goes to the back of the unit through. It routed nicely. (you might have to hunt a bit to find the truck receptacle as it is on the TOP side of another larger connector) The only problem with the cubbyhole location is that it is almost too level. I needed to shim on top of the back end and under the front (face) end to make it tilt just a little. Very minor amount did it. Now the brake controller is at about the same reach as the gear shift in a very accessible location. .
