5vr hitch?

What is a good type of "hitch" for a 5ver so that I can still use the bed without much effort?

I have heard that there are problems with the height of the the 2500 4x4 when it comes to hookups. How do you get around this problem. I want to do some parttime hauling so I will be pulling a variety of 5ths. Comments. Suggestions?

I have a complete set of gauges on the way.

Thanks. Looking forword to your replies. :)

The hitch shouldn't be a problem. Most newer hitches, like Reese, mount on two bed rails, and the hitch is attached to the rails by four pins, that can be pulled easily to take the hitch out. Your going to have a problem towing a "variety of 5th wheels" with you 4X4. A lot of them will not have the 5-6" clearance, over the bed rails to prevent damage. Some have done axle flips, or spring overs, on the trailers. Some 5th wheels will work with adjustment of the kingpin height. Some people have had their 4X4 lowered with the Dodge kit, but that runs about $2000. The 4X4 isn't the ideal truck, if you tow different 5th wheels all the time... ;)

I tow a Hitchhiker 32' with 7"s of clearance on my 4x4. Have not had any problems. But aome do and as stated above, the fix can be done by the place you buy the trailer from. If they want to sell the trailer they will most likly do it for free

I have read somewhere and cant remember where that the standard hitch mount of 1" in front of the rear axle should be revised to directly over the rear axle when equipped with Cummins due to weight on front axle, maybe in the TDR mag.
