Where to put the brake controller?

Where have you put your brake controller on 06's? If I put it at the bottom of the dash on the driver's side, I'm afraid I'm going to kick it, plus I wouldn't be able to see it very well. If it goes on the face of the lower dash, I think the angle is too steep. I'd like to put it in the little cubby under the radio, but I'm not sure how to get in there; I don't like the idea of tearing the dash off a brand new truck and drilling a hole big enough to run the wires through. I have a Prodigy. Thanks

I assume since you have a SLT, that you have a 4 wheel drive shifter verses the electronic knob. I but mine down in front of the 4 wheel shifter. Have to be careful that I don't crack my knuckles when putting it in 4 low. I enlarged the hole in back of the opening to run my wires.

I didn't find it necessary to remove any trim or enlarge the hole. I think I taped the wires together and fished it through. It's been sometime since install. In the picture you can just see the wiring before it disappears. The location also keeps it away from the wife's knees.

Thanks for the ideas. I do have the knob for 4x4, so I don't have to worry about any knuckle cracking. Just hope the knob works when I need it!

I managed to put mine in the cubby hole, dash comes apart real easy... one screw by the trash bag hanger and the rest are pop out clips. One hole to drill in the back of the cubby hole for the wires and since I had to extend the wire harness for the controller, I made it a fairly small hole.

If you look at my readers rigs gallery, there is a pic of the brakesmart. I put in the lower right of the steering wheel. I havent banged my leg on it yet. I'm 6'5", so that my mean I sit differently than you would.

Don't know where the ashtray is located on the 06, but my prodigy fit into my 1999 ashtray just fine. Wasn't using it for anything else!

It's a little cup with a lid that fits in the cup holder. High quality stuff!
