Where to put trans sensor

I need to know where everyone is putting the sensor for the transmission sensor. I bought the dipricol gauges and for the transmission temp it only comes with only the sensor.

I called Genos and they sell the adaptor for the bottom of the pan which means I will have to drop the pan and drill a hole in it.

What are my other options... ... ... ..... Can I put a "T" in the transmission line and still get a good temp reading

Buy a mag hitech pan. It comes ready for sensor

For now use a hose clamp, position the sensor on top on the presure trans cooler line, as close to the trans as possible. Clamp the sensor to the line. Works just fine, and rember that no mater where you put the sensor, you are just trying to get a baseline of temp to compare with... I have seen temps up to 200 deg having the sensor clamped to the line.



Normal for me is barley move needle 150 deg...

I did the same thing as a temporary measure. But I used 600*F silicone tape with ty-raps for added security. It works so well I haven't installed the Autometer in-line manifold I bought for it.

I recently had a brass temp sensor, that was mounted in the left PTO cover of my 6 speed, broken off by ???? that apparently bounced up off the road or was thrown off of a tire.



Big puddle in the parking lot, outdoor temp about 3deg F, and 50 miles to home.



The sensor was protected by the transmission on one side and a driveshaft on the other. It must be at least 18" off the ground and I never even thought about it getting clipped.



So what I am saying is consider the exposure of the location you choose.

I did a search and found a place... ... ... Massdiesel... ... ... that sells a transmission to cooler line that has a port for a sensor... ..... I think I will call them tomorrow and see what it cost.

Trans Temp sender location

Attached is a photo of the location for the trans temp sender. You will also need a bell reducer and bushing as this port is not deep enough to accept the sender directly.

I called massdiesel the trans line adapter is $75 and replaces the front trans cooler line which is aprox 12" long, located just below the trans cooler. He sends you a new line with the temp port and you send him back your line.

The 48re has an 1/8" plug on passenger side rear of trans. I installed the autometer probe there & it works fine. Simple, quick, easy.....

I had a trans shop install a temp gauge and they used a T in the line and it works fine on my 2000 5. 9 gas. That trans can really heat up pulling a 5th wheel, if you are going slow up a hill or backing into a campsite.
