I'm in the market for a good 4 in. exaust system. What have you used/seen? I know at first, the Jardine wasn't fitting right, but from what I understand, they have taken steps to correct the problems.

------------------
Y2K 2500 4x4 QC LWB auto, Intence Blue Pearlcoat, Sport Pkg with no mouldings exept "CumminsPower" cab plate from Geno's, all options exept SRW, Power Edge with brass elbow, K&N, Straight piped, Silencer ring removed, 305/70/16 ProComp MT's on 16x10 Weld Scorpio's.

BlueThunder, Installed my 4" Jardine exhaust in my truck 2 weeks ago today. It took myself and a friend about 2-1/2 hours to remove the old system and install the new system. We used an oxy/acetelyne torch to remove the old exhaust in 3 pieces, as not to damage it, in case I ever have to put it back in. System fit great and no problems installing it. The tailpipe exits out towards the right rear corner of the bumper. Cost was $468. 00 shipping included to my door in New York. Topped it off with a Monster Tip from Geno's Garage for the finishing touch. Sounds good not too loud, but has a nice bark. The JRE exhaust looks real nice too, but for about $200. 00 less, the Jardine 4" was a steal. Just my opinion. -Glen

Search the Board this question has been asked many times.
I put the JRE on about a month ago and I'm very happy with it. The tail pipe exit is adjustable. I installed it myself with a little help getting the hangers welded on. The system was very stable without the hangers, so the drive to the muffler shop was no problem. I'm very happy with the JRE, excellent quality and good folks.

<font color=blue>My JRE Exhaust should be here Friday and will be on the truck this weekend. I liked the flexbility of JRE's system, not to mention the customer service level. I have no experience with Jardine so I have nuthing good OR bad to say about them. Also there is a . wav file of the JRE exhaust of the website if your interested.

JRE 4" Exhaust and other sounds If it plays really fast simply close Media Player and click it again and it will play properly. Can't wait to get mine on this weekend!

BlueThunder I installed a JRE exhaust two weeks ago and am very please with it. I had a hard time trying to decide between the Banks exhaust or the JRE, but after a ride in a truck with the Banks system I did not like the drone sound that I had heard about but it is a vary nice system. I had a Jardines system on my old gaser and was also pleased with the fit and finish.

Boy did you open a can of worms!!! I just finished the install of the JRE Exhaust on Kats truck and will never install or recommend this system to anyone. Please read on;

The packaging was terrible. Every end was egg shaped with the exception of the tailpipe outlet. After repairing these I began to install the system. The welded hanger that fits into the trans mount location was too high and had to be repositioned as it was pushing the pipe into the transmission mount. Next, your told to use the front hanger from the muffler on the JRE system. Duh guys, its welded to the muffler at a point where a grinder is inaccesible. I could have torched it and ended up with a real mess. The rear tailpipe hangers supplied were FAR to short and would have only allowed for a spot weld at best. The over the axle tailpipe section had an incomplete bend that angled it towards the ground rather than straight into the muffler.

I was able to fabricate hangers for all factory locations - far better ones than the bent 5" rod supplied with the system. All ended well as Kat has a new system re-engineered by RAMKIDS. It should have been put back in the box and sent back to Teds doorstep, but the old one was already in pieces from the 5 minute removal.

I have installed the Diesel Dynamics system and was happy with it. It required minor tailpipe modifications to get the position right, but that only entailed cutting 2 1/4" from the over axle pipe. All hangers worked well and don't require a visit to the exhaust shop to complete (no welder required). Oh, and its cheaper.

Boy do I feel better #ad

Ramkids- Awhile back I installed the Dodge "you-know-what" pipe and Walker muffler. I used a Sawzall to cut the hanger off of the OEM muffler with no trouble @ all. It's even easier if you cut it off while the muffler is still on the truck.

Just as Ramkids said, was kinda disappointed once we started piecing it together. The eggshaped pipe ends I figured we could fix... .

But all ended well as Ramkids is a wiz at it and well I must say I do like the sound of it.

I really like the sound 2500rpm to 3200 rpm I think I scared this kid at a redlight that thought he was gonna pass me (lane merges).

Only bummer is after hauling the old exhaust to my house even tho we place it on cardbored it scratched the heck outta the bed. Wish I had my sprayin already... but I have my priorites heh.

Bill:
I realized I could have spent the time and eventually gotten the hanger off. At that point I was so P. O'd, I new that i could fabricate the hangers I needed quicker than screwing around with cutting welds.

The moral of this story: I would expect more considering the money that Kat, and others lay out for this system. This was by no means the first exhaust system I've done. I've installed other systems in which the engineering was better as was the attaching hardware. This was not the type of product I would have expected from JRE.

Thanks for the post Bill, it may save someone else some time #ad

Ditto on that RAMKIDS. I would have expected much more from JRE. After all, that is the only reason I was concidering that system in the first place. They're whole sales pitch is the fact that the fit and finish is supurb. Thanks for your comments. I knew it was a good idea to bring this topic up again.

I was surprised when I read this "RK". Did you contact Ted about this? I found his system to fit perfectly and it was undamged when I received it. Could be that you should have filed a damage claim on the shipping. (just wondering). Also, I have been extremely impressed with Ted's customer service -- I would think he would have been happy to help you out.

<font color=blue>Well I haven't approached Ted with any informtion regarding this yet because it was delivered on Friday (while I was at work) and I didn't get to inspect it until Saturday before we were going to put it on. The shipping box looked like it had been beat up pretty good, and the eggshaped ends were not that severe (just a minor annoyance really) I was going to give Ted a call on Monday and see what he has to say, I really didn't wanna post anything until AFTER talking to him about it because people will immediatly jump to conclusions. I will say that we did fabricate every hanger on there and it is actually MUCH stronger regarding the hanging system. Ramkids did a great job on it.

I will have a follow up post with more information regarding the JRE 4" Exhaust with more likes and dislikes about it AFTER I talk to Ted and hear what he has to say. He has been wonderful so far so it could honestly be just a one time "bad" exhaust system. All that matters to me right now is its on the truck.

I will say that I LOVE the sound of it I will have to drive around locked out of over drive more often now #ad

Ted's customer service has been great for me as well but this being the weekend and all hes not in his shop which is why I was waiting until AFTER I talked to him to make a statement.

Well said Kat. Ted was not given a chance to respond to our situation as it was the weekend.

This information may help Ted upgrade his system, he seems to be a reputable business man and I'm sure he will be responsive to the situation.

Hello guys, I was alerted to this by email.

I am VERY surprised by this, with hundreds sold to date, ZERO Problems, and happy customers.
I will talk to KAT, and get to the bottom of this.
I will Make it right what ever the cost.

I only wish I was contacted before anything was posted.

<font color=blue> Well thats why I hadn't said anything about it really, with it being the weekend and all I figured you wouldn't be able to check your email until Monday morning. I am hoping its a one time just "bad" exhaust is all. I'll give ya a call in the morning and let ya know my concerns.

And I wanted to handle this matter via the phone and not over email. I have no doubts that you would try to correct it or at least listen to my concerns. <font size=-2>

<font color=blue>Ok heres the scoop on MY JRE 4" Exhaust system.

First off yes the install took longer then anticipated, but after a lengthy conversation with Ted this morning we found out mostly why things went wrong like they did.

First off the shipping was not great. As I mentioned above I was not here when it arrived. Ted informed me that I had 7 days to claim damages against UPS, but I didn't know that at the time I thought since I didn't recieve it personally that I was stuck with it. The eggshaped pipe ends were fixed and were more of a minor annoyance then anything. The welded hanger that we had to rebend was probably also damaged by the shipping. The box I had looked like it had been torn in half and basically retaped together. I really couldn't believe it. Somehow the K&N air filter that was in there survuved. #ad

Here is the problem we discovered :
You are told to reuse a clamp from the factory muffler that when in place will set the pace for the rest of the exhaust system. MY hanger from the factory was welded onto my muffler and well would have been more trouble to remove then it was worth. That was the start and root of most of our problems we had as this clamp is basically the key ingredient on where the whole system will hang. Ted stated this is the first he has heard of this and that he will include that clamp (he knew the part number off top of his head) in all future kits from this day forth. The way he described the muffler should sit is nuthing like mine is sitting which is why we couldn't use the rest of his supplied hangers. My truck was made in Mexico. When in the porper posistion Ted stated there should be 1" of welding space for each hanger, this was not applicable in my case because we fabricated our own hangers!

Ted was very concerned with my situation and literally asked me what he could do to make it "right". I will not disclose what the details are (to keep it professional) but Ted has shown his commitment to making his customers happy.

I am going for my new TC and Valve body tommorrow so I had to have this stuff in there for my dyno runs I have scheduled.

Ted Jannetty is doing everything he can to make me a happy, satisfied customer.

I will definately still recommend him and his business in the future based on this level of customer service and responsiveness to the situation. If this was my "first" dealing with him I might have been a little more upset then I truely am, but because of previous converstions with him I KNEW he would listen to my concerns and act on them. The fact that is was the weekend complicated the whole situation.

I may be around for a 2nd installation of a JRE system on another truck in the next couple of weekends. So for now I consider this a "one-time" situation.

If we use the correct clamp and we still have troubles then I will post them, but until then I would still suggest looking into the JRE 4" Exhaust.

To anyone who has installed a recent exhaust system, for feedback reasons was the clamp on the front of your muffler welded in place? We are trying to determing when this started taking place. Please contact Ted with the information. He is always looking to improve his system.

<font size=+1>Ted Jannetty of JRE STILL has my business and reccomendation. </font> It its not right he will make it right, period, end of story.

Please note that Jardines are a stand up dealer also and will be more than happy to take care of any problems or concerns!!Plus you save over $200 to boot for other gotta-havits!!Since they are the manufacture of their own system you can customize it if you want to fit your needs.

The response from Ted concerning the problems with Kat diesels exhaust were second to none. I feel that I owe Ted an apology for posting prior to allowing him to correct the problems.

It looks as if I will be installing another JRE system this weekend and I will be sure to talk to Ted about any problems BEFORE I open my mouth.

Ted provided his customer with a timely response and has bent over backwards to make him happy. Customer service is something I look for in the products I purchase and install, Mr. Jannetty has epitomized quality customer service in this unfortunate situation. Please hold off on your exhaust purchase decisions until I see the 2nd system. I will be happy to post the results this weekend.
