What is it worth? 30' GN flat bed

My wife and I are planning to look into a small 5th wheel camper in the next year or so. Nothing to large, just big enough for us and the two dogs. My 95 has no power upgrades but does have the darn automatic. We live out east so it wont see any real bad grades like out west. Truck is a 1995 staight cab, long bed 4x4 with single rear wheels, 3/4 ton. Most use is running light to and from work. What length and weights should I be looking at. Truck is already set up with a class 5 reese reciever hitch and trailer brake contols. Thanks Mike and Michele

I would suggest staying under 10,000 lbs if you have 4. 10s and under 8,000 lbs if you have 3. 54s. I would also suggest a low or mid profile 5th wheel. High profile 5th wheels really create some wind drag. If you have 3. 54s, you'll need to lock out O/D on almost all up-hills. If you're running stock power, the 47RH should be ok as long as you keep the rpm above 1750rpm if you're doing any more than easing along on flat road. It won't hurt the motor a bit to run 2500rpm all day long day after day. Running it there on the uphills will be benificial in the long run. I've owned a '95 auto, 98 5spd, an '01. 5 auto and now an '03 auto. I've towed with all of them and haven't had any transmission trouble with the exception of a sensor in the '01. 5. Watch your transmission temps while backing into your spots. That's when it's most likely to overheat. Not while your rolling down the road or even in traffic. Hope this helps some...
