I'm sure this has been beat into the ground, but I would love to hear what you folks have / had, what works, and so on? I want to install an after market air filter system... . So far my truck is a bone stock 03. 5 HO 305/555. Suggestions, advise and experiences appreciated!

Thanks,

Turbo Kidd

I have an AFE mega cannon on my wife's ride... sounds good and works good. I think the Scotty 3 would be good too.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd stick with the stock setup. I can hear the turbo just fine without any mods to the air filter system, and I'm convinced that the aftermarket filters do nothing for performance.

which air intake system

There are several good ones out there. I put on the AFE w/Tq Tube and love it. Excellent air flow and nice turbo whistle. I would do it again. :D

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen! I realize that I may not see any major improvement in performance, but have any of you noticed any gain in fuel economy? How about the loss of performance, or any negatives?

Thanks Again!

No negatives to report. I feel certain it has helped performance, but I don't have anything (dyno) to back that up. I'd say the biggest benefit is cooler egts. , and that sound of free flowing air intake and turbo. Kool!!!! Oo.

I think there has to be an improvement in performance. My stock 05 has the filter minder sucked down 1/4 at 3600 miles. That means that it is trying to get air but isn't succeeding. I'm going to change but need to know what to do about the sensor on the air intake tube.

Mine doesn't suck closed on the AFE w/torq tube!!! Oo.

Your mission is clear.

My mileage got worse with the AFE PG7 and torque tube. I think the mounting location of the filter minder in the PG7 has a lot to do with it not moving once you install the new filter.

Mine increased by a strong 2 miles per gallon after installing the same set up BUT I did have the TSB done at about the same time BUT some people have also claimed that their mpg's were insignificant after the TSB. I am getting 15 around town... . was getting 11-12 tops!

LOVE the turbo whine! Oo.

Torque Tube (old style as I know it to be now) has/had a place to relocate it (screws included!) ;)
