B1 Shootout: KSB1B vs. KSB1 vs. B1B vs. Full B1

Estimate on how much it's gonna cost for transmission upgrade?..

Not to hijack the thread but what about cowl induction or hood induction or even hood ram air through a scoop?

I would like to get a hood with one or two scoops and direct it all into a filter or twin filters to get nice cool charged air.

That's what I WANT anyway.

I found that after a "little surface dirt" on the Scotty II filter (about 6 months of driving in a fairly clean street environment) that the turbo compresser section sounded "better". A little dust film on the Scotty II helped quieten it down some. I was going to thouroughly clean it annually, now not quite sure how clean I want it. Maybe a prefilter may help tune it to my taste.

Hummmmmmmm, put one filter somewhere to sort of prefilter, duct it to the Scotty II to really filter it. Might have a bearing on the "tunes", rather than just one filter sucking "ambiant" under the hood / cowl air.

Many are using the Turbo Air Guide (TAG) to subdue the sound when using a Scotty II. I am sure it would do more than the dust layer on the filter for the sound.

FWIW- I too use the Volant kit. Truck feels slightly peppier or responsive to throttle input, I also netted exactly 1 mpg better on the overhead after driving 80 non-stop miles. Turbo noise was just a tick louder empty-hookup the trailer and the noise is a little annoying, but not unbearable. The TAG did nothing for me, kinda sorry I bought it. When the upshift into OD occurs, man do you hear the turbo then- Good Luck-
