Does anyone know how to identify which alternator is in my truck without removing it? I've got 200k miles on it & I believe I'm starting to hear it whine a bit like making the bearings are starting to go..... There are (2) types per Larry B's website. The Chrysler\Bosch & the Nippon Denso. He only sells the Nippon Denso... . $179. 99 New

The Denso has two seperate studs with nuts to connect the two small wires on the back.

The Bosch has a rubber plug with both wires in it.

Thanks Thomas! I just went out & looked at mine again & I must have the Bosch. 1 large wire & then 2 small wires going into a plug on the back. Rats! I'de like to get it from Larry at Foster Truck but it looks like I'll have to go another route if in fact the beariings are making noise. I'll have to check it out Saturday.

Thanks,

Clay :)

I have a Bosch, but have 180K on the truck, and want to be prepared.

What sources are out there for new units, or is this a dealer only purchase? I will not knowingly buy a rebuild.
