Which brand of griving lights

Thanks. I looked at their site and their demo and it doesn't look like the lights go out very far. How much were they?



I'm just reluctant to buy anything offered as aftermarket as all my experience has been disapointment. I bought some driving lights at the 4 Wheel Jamboree in Indy a couple years ago and they turned out to be absolute junk.



I'll have to dig for that copy of 4 Wheel & Off Road and look up their tests.

I use a set of Piaa 510's (pencil beam pattern) with 80 watt super white bulbs. Looks no different than stock but will light the road up like a set of 6 inch offroad lights. They are pricey though.

I have a set of Pur-Lux ( the big round stainless steel ones, now made by Grote ) that belong in the front bumper of a tractor trailer rig,mounted on my grill guard,with air craft landing light bulbs in them. Many years ago I took out the bulbs that came with the lights and put the air craft landing light bulbs in them. I can hunt Coon when those things are on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Hella 4000 pencil beams on my grill guard. So far I have gotten some looks from the men in blue, but no stops.

Where did that come from ? Have you been harassed lately by your local PD ? You summed it up when you stated that you have never had a cop problem when using them wisely. If you have 100w lights on while you are driving through the center of town, expect to be stopped. If you are using them on the secondary roads to watch for wildlife and dim them to on-coming traffic, I doubt you will have a problem. Believe it or not, we have better things to occupy our time, at least where I work.

Actually I have never been harassed by police in my life. But I know of people who have been and I was just agreeing with Illflem's statement about some cops just looking for ways to harass someone.



The 800 number thing is just an accountability issue - something that all politicians and public employees should follow.



Scott, I am definitely not against police - there are good and bad just like in any other business. I think we had threads on this several months ago.

PIAA Makes great lights! A little pricy, but well worth the money. I had some old lights off a Freightliner, till I hit a deer with my 91 D-250, and they dissentigrated on impact! I am in the market for some driving lights at the current time, but a CON OFE is a little more important first!
