i'm looking to run 35X12. 5X 17 toyo tires. i've learned that carli makes the best suspension kits for our trucks. the question is do i go with the started kit or the 2. 0 system? the truck is 95% road 5% off road. i want it to ride nice. Also do i get the Toyo AT or MT? i love the look of the mt, but don't want the road noise. thanks

I'd still get the 2. 0 Bilstein setup if you can swing it. It's supposed to be his best riding setup. After getting the system, you might find offroading a lot more fun. There will be added dampening capacity if you decide to throw a cabover on it in the future or tow heavy. I think the Interco Vortrac is the only E rated 35-12. 50-17 AT out there. If you don't offroad much, the AT would probably suit you better. I'm running Toyo's 285-75-17 AT's. They're 1" shorter and much narrower than the big 35 MT's. Can't beat the look and wear of a Toyo MT though.

Go with one level higher on the suspension then you think you want/need or you will be kicking yourself later that you didn't. :-laf

The MT looks great, but I think you'll like the AT better during the drive.

Since you asked the question... ... ... you already know that you want at least the 2. 0 system :-laf

I went big with the 05 truck so I can play as hard as I want. I went with the 2. 0 system for the daily grind and occiasional romp on the old 94.

Sane drivers will get by just fine with the 2. 0,for every one else... ... ... ... ... .

I really would love to get the Bilstein 2. 65 system. Sounds like they are working on the long travel rear and front radius arms around those shocks.

thanks for the input guys! anyone have any pictures of our trucks with a lift or 35's? and any more input on the MT vs AT toyo? i'm concerned they will be really anoying and loud.

I am VERY happy with the 2. 0 set up. I do have the full rear leafs and that does make a good difference to.

The 2. 0 system is all the majority of dual purpose trucks need if driven wisely. It is a much better ride than the kore 2. 0 fox system that was on previuosly,it was stiff but still bottomed out easier than the bilsteins

My Toyo MT's do sing a bit on the road, but nothing too bad. Here is a pick of mine with 35" Toyo MT's, but I have the Kore lift:

do they stick out past the fenders that much or is that because of the aftermarket wheels? what antenna's/mounts are those on the bed? thanks

Yeah, mine stick out more because of the Mickey Thompson wheels. And, the front left rubs just a bit on hard left turns. If you keep the stock wheels, yours won't stick out as much (as you can see from Bob's pic above). The H2 wheels on ASchwartz's would be somewhere between the stock and mine.

The antenna mounts are stake pocket mounts. They are from Firestik, Firestik SS-194A Truck Bed Mount I ordered them from the guys at Associated Radio They aren't dual CB's, one is CB and the other is supposed to be for the Ham radio that I've never gotten around to putting in there. It's not the best location for good transmit receive, as the cab blocks it a bit as do tall campers you might tow. But, they work for my needs, and it was very easy to run the wires in through the vents in the back of the cab.

thanks for the help guys, i ended up getting the carli starter system and the adjustable track bar. after install i will be getting the 35X12. 5 17 toyo M/T's.

I just completed my Carli 2. 0 installation on Sunday and sprung for the Toyos while I was at Les Schwab getting the alighment checked on Monday. I just completed a 500 mile road trip on the new set up last night.

I will say that I'm surpised that the ride is every bit a stiff as the stock set up was. I had a levelling kit already so the change in stance wasn't as dramatic as if it were done to a bone stilck truck, but it does look good. After all the glowing praise and the "level 10" rating for road manners I expected the resultant to be a bit smoother ride than stock. I ceratinly can't say that.

The tires are pretty darned quiet considering the aggressive tread pattern. I switched from BFG AT to the Toyo MT and there isn't that much difference. You will however notice lots of rumble at parking lot speeds and rolling up to stop lights. It's gonna take a little gettgin used to.

Also I the rear end feels really squirrely with the new rubber. I suspect it's due to the very open tread pattern and lot of compliance in the rubber compound. My worn out AT's definitley had better handling.

Good luck with your set up. I'll be interested to hear your observations. Maybe I have something set up less than optimal...

i heard the valving on those shocks is critical, you might just need lighter valving to smooth out your ride. guy by me says you need " cold weather " valving for cooler and cold climates, because carli sets them up for california weather. and the cold weather toughens up the responce of the shocks. hope it works out for you, it's a lot of money to spend not to be 100% happy with the outcome. i have yet to install my system, keep you guys posted on the results.

The Toyo M/T's are a stout tire and you may already know, or not. Tire pressures make a difference in a ride. From my experience w/ the Toyo M/T's, is that you'll need to drop the pressures unloaded daily driving down to get some sidewall flex. Obviously you'll need to figure out wear & ride characteristics w/ the way you use your truck to get the right pressures.

When I had my '05 CTD Carli equipped truck with the 35" Toyo M/T's, I would drop the front down to 48psi and rears down to 30 psi. . Made a world of difference. . If I towed, I would bump the pressures back up. Some people it may not be feasible, because you tow all time or majority and is a PIA to keep lowering and airing back up the pressures.

I have the same set-up w/ Toyo AT's and I noticed a night and day difference in handling. I'm very happy w/ it so far. I have to say I wish I got the 2. 0 set-up. When the cash allows for it I'll up-grade.

Good luck and enjoy.
