Okay after searching and reading for hours I am still stuck on which clutch will be suite my needs-

Currently I am doing a major conversion dropping a 12valve/6-speed into my GMC dually. I would like to do a bit of everything with the truck but good street maners is #1 and then sled pulling right behind that and then drag racing. I know I won't have the fastest truck on the strip seeing I have the 6-speed but in braket racing consistancy wins over speed!!!

I have read alot about all the pulling clutches the high HP single disks. I have yet to talk to any venders but would like to get some opinions before I start making calls. Also what kind of prices should I be looking at on the dual disks. When I go and look at SBC's website there are like 10 different dual disks. Are the SBC's priced close to the same as EEP???

My oppinion is I would rather spend the money now than later. I am looking at around 500HP so I would probably burn up a single right?

Thanks... . Ryan

In bracket racing everybody runs automatics because they are more consistent. If you already have the trans I would go with the double disc right off. Not that a single wouldn't handle that kind of power but you may not be happy for very long with only 500hp. As far as price goes EEP and SBC are about the same price you may also want to try Haisleys while you are calling around. It also depends on which DD clutch you want to go with. Some are targeted at pulling others are designed for street use and drag racing. HTH.

Call all three vendors get prices. You can have street manners with a dual disc. I wouldn't have a single disc again with the way you can drive on the street, tow, sled pull, drag race with the same clutch. It will be expensive but well worth it to do once and not have to worry about adding power down the road.

Okay, the info so far is great. Can someone give me the advantages/disadvantages of each of the 3 dual disks. Like I say I have read for hours through old posts and there are so many mixed story's its crazy!!!

My EEP clutch is fine on the street and/or towing. Pedal is somewhat stiffer to push in. It is NOT jerky or grabby. This clutch is a pulling SOB. I would not recommend it for racing. Other guys do it, though. The 6 speed with any clutch is less than desireable for racing, IMO.
