I have an 05 Dually with the NV5600 3. 73 gears and 22. 5 wheels with 37'' tires. Now with the bullydog crazylarry installed my clutch is slipping badly. Just wondering which clutch I should go with. South Bend OFE or FE? The only thing that I pull is my 5000lb. boat.

The FE will hold more power than the OFE, but it will be a bit grabby sometimes while backing a trailer. That was the main reason I went with the new South Bend Street Dual Disc. It holds the power of a dual disc (more than the FE), but without the grabbiness (sort of). I need some traction bars, I think, because the clutch still can be a bit grabby at times. Must be axle wrap, because it's not consistent. Sometimes it's smooth as butter.

The FE and Ceramic friction materials can take a lot of abuse, but an organic clutch won't take the heat from sled pulling. That is the one drawback with my DD. No sledpulling. Looking back I think I should have purchased a FE or one of the sled pulling clutches.

One thing that I think is really cool about the street DD is that the rotating mass is about the same as a FE clutch. That means you can hustle shifts pretty well. I can shift my transmission as fast as when stock. So the street DD is better for playing around, racing, etc. than a feramic or ceramic DD.

You NEED a dual disk!!! I ran an FE and it slipped under power at low rpms very easily. These CR trucks just make too much torque. This is after a few conversations with Peter and with a few other dealers.

I've got the Southbend DD and like it OK. It's noisy and the pedal is a good bit harder to push, but nothing that can't be lived with. I've never made it slip, but did pop a rear u-joint trying. As mentioned above by JCleary my DD is kinda grabby. Really bad if you try to take of in third. It makes it hard to back my gooseneck into tight places. I have to shift into 4 Lo, but if your on concrete and trying to back and turn it makes the front end jump. Cant win for loosing, I guess I'll have to get the front locking hub conversions. As grabby as the DD is I would hate to have one of the clutchs that is claimed to be grabby. Over all I'm happy with the clutch, just wish they would have told me that it was going to be a little grabby before I bought it.

the only thing i will be doing is drag racing on the street every once in a while maybe 1 or 2 times a month other than just pulling the boat on performance mode an extra 90hp. if i get a dual disk streetable clutch isn't there some noise that comes along with it?? is it bearable and when is it the loudest in neutral or just going into gear??also isnt it almost impossible to back up to the boat trailer with a fe or a dual disk compared to an ofe?? sorry for all the questions just sorda new to this whole game.

The DD is louder than stock by quite a bit. It's still not as loud as the older 24 valve trucks though. It make different sounds when your sittting still and push in and out on the clutch pedal, sound kinda like a big rig. The most annoying is that you'll hear your tranmission vibration under the truck when getting up to speed after you shift each gear, worse if you lug the engine. They say that installing a fluidamper will help, I don't know yet as mine is still under my back seat waiting to be installed. I would'nt want anything that grabbed worse than mine. It's tollerable but anymore would be to much.

Get the dual disc! it is probably the only thing that will hold up to Horse power/ torque and trying to turn those 22. 5s with 3. 73 gears

I have the same set up and I can slip my clutch when I dial up the TST box, remember the 22. 5 tires alone weigh over 100lbs each then add the weght of the rims and rotating mass

My centerforce clutch held up to 400+hp and 879ft lbs tq with no slippage when I ran the stock wheels and a friend of mine ran 550+hp 1080ft lbs tq and no slippage with his but with these 22. 5s I think the only answer could be the double disc

I think you should figure a fluidampr into the cost of a new DD clutch.

It will be nearly as quiet as stock 95% of the time, including under a load.
