Greetings one and all.

In the process of installing Trans gauge and pyro gauage.

On the back side of headlight switch I pulled off the pin connector, I took a test light and probed all the holes on the connector cant get a hot light !,does the connector have to be installed on the litght switch to get a hot wire to light up my test light?,thought I could tap one of the wires to run to my gauage lights.

Need to know which wire to tap into.

Thanks in advance

pull the fuse for the gage lights, the lights that dim,
install an add a fuse ( piggy back ) and run the extra wire to the gage lights.
Now have fused dimmable gage lights on seperate corcuit,

Or, just wrap wire around protected side of the leg of above fuse and re insert. .

I think this is what you are looking for. I just spliced into the headlight dimmer wire. Very simple. This circuit is already fuse protected and the gage light is very low power. Removing the dash trim panel on the 06 is not necessary. There is a triangular shape side access cover on the driver side of dash. Door must be open. Panel just pries off. Dimmer harness is right there, but you cannot easily access the pin connections to test them. There are two (2) orange wires (+) with brown tracer, same as 05, but pin number has changed (#2 I think). Use a multimeter with a needle probe, or gently slice off a little bit of insulation with pen knife. 50/50 shot. Complete the circuit to ground. Headlights on. I got the wrong one at first: Rotating dimmer read inverse voltage (about 1. 5 to 5). This one goes to a lamp circuit. The other one, from the resistor bank, is the correct one. Rotating the dimmer reads 12 volts to 2 volts. There are a couple of convenient screws there for your ground (-) connection.
