I have a 2000 4x4 with 135k miles. It was bone stock when I got it last week and so far i've straight piped it, installed the BHAF, and I have the TST Powermax1. I'm looking to upgrade the transmission in the future before adding a Diablo Powerpuck and maybe some injectors to the mix :)

So, would you do an aftermarket valvebody or just a Transgo shift it? If VB, whos and how much are they?

What converter should I go with?

The truck is a daily driver and is 99% unloaded, but occassionally I might tow my Cobra with it.

Contact the major transmission vendors and make up your own mind. Anything's an improvement over stock.

My 02 with 68,000 mi is starting to shutter so I ordered daves triple disk converter, VB, billit input and some misc other stuff. . looking forward to having it all installed

Do it once and do it right. Each time you RandR it, it cost another 500. 00. Call the three big transmission shops and put in a complete custom transmission. At 135K it is ready. SNOKING

I have the ATS 5 star Torque convertor and valve body with stock transmission. Also Pac Brake and ATS Co-pilot for transmission controller. I've only had a few weeks and works ok. Previously I had a ATS Triple Lok and ran it for about 50,000 miles with no problem. I'm towing about 12,500 lbs.

put Dave's triple disk in and couldn't believe the difference it made in getting the power down. He just shipped my new transmission (original went 255K!!) and I'm looking forward to installing it next week.

Call Dave and talk to him... .

Peace,

Do it all at once and do it right

My truck was totally stock (no power mods) and @ 139k the trans was toast. I nevr pulled anything from the time I bought it @75k, and I always take extreemly good care of my vehicles. The fluid was cherry red and didn't smell burnt at all. It just started shifting funny one day so I decided to adj bands and do the fluid change. When I dropped the Mag Hy-Tech there was black yuck :( in the bottom.

As Bob & Snow mentioned best bet is to surf the big three sites, call talk to the folks and make up your mind. If you are swayed by anything let it be this "I can't say enough about doing it all at once, which equalls doing it right once". Don't think you'll get away with a few minor trans things and then add some sticks and bla, bla, bla cause the next thing you know you'll be needing a trans and will wish you had all the $$$ you spent on the bla, bla and bla.

Happy trucking!

I am running A converter, valvebody and torqueloc all from BD on a stock transmission and it has performed flawlessly It works excelent for everything I tow regularly 10k-15k lbs and sled pulled it 2 times now first place in heavyweight class both times and no issues at all. It performs extremely smoothly as daily driver also. I only had 75k miles on transmission when I added these I wanted to prolong catastrophy for around $1500 versus $4-5k for a complete transmission I will see how long it will last before I take the full billet plunge. If I drag raced which I don't then I would consider a full transmission but for what I do I believe this will do the trick for a long while.
