I’m just curious, I already know the Dodge is best for all around towing, our torque curve comes on earlier and builds through a smoother and more linear power band. But lets talk hypothetics and fun runs. Just for pure bragging rights lets take for example a 2005 3rd Gen Ram 2500/3500 SLT Quad Cab SWR 3:73 (Auto) 4x4 . vs 2005 2500/3500 GM 4x4 Crew/Cab 4x4 3. 73 (auto) . Vs Ford Super Duty F250/350 3:73 (auto) Crew Cab 4x4. Which truck will be the quickest down the strip bone stock?
I gave my neighbor a ride to the Dodge Dealer today to drop his 3rd Gen 2500 (Identical to my truck) aside from his is Beige mine is Mineral Grey. On the way back we started talking trucks, we are in my rig. We past probably 7-10 Super duties, I mean it’s never been a ripe scenario for a stop light run. We see this truck Ford SD 6. 0 Crew cab Lowered! On 22" wheels, then we see this brand new truck lifted 6" 22" off-road tires garage queen. Anyway the guy see me and is hauling to catch up to my truck. Luck has it we face off at a light. From what I could tell, truck looked stock. My Edge/ Juice is being swapped out due to the 2nd malfunction, so I’m bone stock right now. My buddy says hey this guy want to run, are you gonna take him? I told him I’ve ran Super Duties before and pulled away no problem, but I had a box on my truck. Light turns green, and I mash the gas. My truck took a moment to execute my request as usual, but I was pretty much even with the SD. Once the boost came on I was moving, but the SD was slowly pulling away, not raping me, but very slowly pulling away, we shut it down around 70 mph, and he only had his bed at my hood, but he still got me. I told my buddy I think he had a box, but I couldn’t tell, he had a big chrome tip approx 6" but the truck was quiet, also I could not hear his turbo whistle, like you normally can when the Ford guys have swapped a turbo for a ball bearing unit or similar. The only inclination, was that when I let him merge over. He got on it again, and a very subtle plume of smoke came from the exhaust, stock powerstrokes don’t smoke very much like our trucks do, so it made me think he was running a mild program on a pressure box? What do you all think. I feel bad getting spanked by a Superduty in front of another 3rd gen truck owner?
