Plug in for gooseneck wiring?

Help me wire my brake controller

The question is what are you looking

for in a exhaust brake? Is price the most important? THey all work fine some work more and cost more, others maybe less expensive and work a little less. I have a pacbrake and it works good, medium price so far so good no problems, it may not be the "best" brake but to me for the money it was worth it. I wouldn't want to drive my truck with out an e-brake I use it ALL the time. If there is ANY chance of a different turbo in your future look at the in line options out there.

Good luck

A friend of mine had really good luck with his Jacobs. I now have one on my 2003 and I am very happy with the quality of it.

We have the Jacobs - an authorized Cummins/Mopar accessory that was dealer installed before I took delivery of the truck, so it's even covered by the Dodge warranty. No problems at all - I haven't touched it for maintenance or repairs - and it works well for us.

The Jacob's is the only one in which I have never heard of a failure with. Also, the ECM controlled engagement is a must have in my opinion. I love mine 46,000 miles later!

Something to consider, the Jake Brake (mopar) is vacuum on, spring off. The Pac Brack is vacuum on and vacuum off. If the vacuum fails the Jake will default off (open) the PacBrake may have to be manually opened. The other thing is the PacBrake seems to have more hold-back. I love my Jake but am having a Pac Brake installed on my 98 because I found a used one installed for $400.

If anyone has an updated price on the brake from Mechanicsville Dodge, please let me know and I can update the price on my website. The price I have posted is June 2001.

I nearly had a stroke when I saw that price:--) . I have had 2 Jacobs and would recommend it. The only complaint that I have heard is the 2 second delay in engagement. I think my 98. 5 took a bit longer and you just get used to it:) .

How about the best prices for the new 03 HO? What about the BD brake? I have found a price for the 03 for $805? The Jacobs has been around 1400 plus installation. Pac brake around 895. 00. I like what I read about the BD.

I just clicked on Klenger's post. It is in Virginia. This is for the Jacobs for my 01. Don't know about the 03 price. Phone number is toll free. (I am not affiliated with these people)

I just had a Jacobs e-brake installed at the dealer last week. It works well. The installation seemed straight forward and looks good. The switch to operate the brake looks very professional and is in the right location. I really like the short delay in the brake operation especially when down shifting. The brake really shortens warm up time and keeps engine temp at normal when idling. The brake stays on when the auto high speed idle kicks in which really helps engine temp on cold days. I have the first e-brake from Jacobs on my 94 and it is still working perfectly after 9 years and about 300,000 kms.
