Which engine do you have?

So, besides the engine change mid-'07, what are the tell-tale exterior changes? Anything? Even if minor?



The guy I talked to didn't know what engine he had.



I was at Home Depot dropping off a trailer I rented to tow 1. 5 pallets of concrete mix to work. I was in my '06 Mega 2500.



I was pulling away after disconnecting the trailer and saw him pull up. I knew it was an '07, the new door badges, the headlights, the tail-light lens, etc. It was a Quadcab shortbed.



He was getting out and I stopped.



Me: "Hi, nice truck! Is that the new 6. 7 liter?"



Him: "Well, I know it's got the big diesel. "



Me: (Thinking to myself "Duh, I can see that"). Then I say, "Yeah, I was just wondering since Cummins changed to the 6. 7 liter mid-'07. "



Him: "Yeah... "



Then I drove off.



I don't know, just my personal opinion, but I have a hard time with people who buy such a vehicle and are so ignorant about it.

If you look in the passenger side wheel well you can see if it has the new turbo or not. Also the tailpipe should be clean except some guys on here with the 6. 7 say their's is dirty.

I HATE that too!!!! Happens at fuel stations too!! LOLOLOLOL My TDR sticker is well placed and my dealer knows here I get my information and doesn't even try to pull a fast one!

You can tell if you can see the underside and the exhaust. On 6. 7s, you can see the extra stuff in the exhaust system.



If you can hear it running, you could probably tell by how quiet it is compared to late 5. 9s.

Don't hate on the newbie's. Some just buy a truck as it is a truck to them, they do not really care what is under the hood just as long as it does the job. Some have no idea what they are getting themselves into when buying a diesel truck no matter the brand. Some either end up hating the diesel and go back to a gas pot rig, or get bit be the bug we have.



Just remember to cut them some slack as we know about this stuff and they have yet to learn it.
