I've seen this question posted many times . . and never a clear answer.

I've been around several modified exhaust CTD's and heard the differences at most of the operating ranges, and have experienced this "drone" sound.

But its very hard to put into words. Kinda like describing that shreaking noise the old lady emmits when you try to justify a bombing expense . . or worse . . a new truck! #ad

When folks refer to "droan" I think of it as a harmonic resonating type sound. One that's more like a humming or high frequency vibrating sound than a rattle. Sorta like a bee-hive that's about to go into melt down.

It's a sound you "feel" not a rattle.

Sorry . . thats the best I can do. You can be assured that if I'm wrong someone with more knowledge will post the correct response.

IF you want the best quality system ... and if you don't want to deal with the annoying drone that most of the other systems have . . get the JRE 4" system from Ted ... you'll be happy you did!

the Drone is a resonance buzz that seems to envelop the whole truck. Mine does it under heavy unlocked acceleration between about 2000-2100 rpms/// I read somewhere (maybe over at "brand F's" website) that a piece of flextube (in a straight section, not meant to replace an "elbow") would eliminate that, probably by changing the resonance of the tubing, and preventing bad vibes from getting established in the frame of the truck. It seems to be harmless, just kinda annoying. . happy clattering----rm
