To really use the higher settings on the Edge juice or the SMARTY set beyond #5 I am considering going with another engine upgrade. To get a daily driver to be more responsive off the line which is the primary upgrade I should be pursuing at this time? I realize that a transmission upgrade is the first order of business, but beyond that I am considering DDP 50hp nozzles or an Aurora 3000. I do not want to have lots of smoke billowing out of my tailpipe when at half throttle during moderate acceleration. I don't drag race, sled pull, or dyno..... just looking for a little more power:D. Any ideas, comments or insight from those of you who have been there would be greatly appreciated.

I would say turbo next - something in the 62mm size. Once you outgrow that you can add an S400 under it for a twins setup and be a happy camper all over again

Thanks for the replies. Tomeygun- don't get me started by enticing me in to considering twin turbos. I think I would go broke replacing rear tires.

Doing them both at once would be the best bet. If you put the injectors in first, you'll get more power, but also more EGT and possibly a little more smoke.

If you do the turbo first, you will experience more lag than you have now, with the larger turbo and no additional fueling upgrade (since you are likely used to the spool you have now with the power you have and the smaller turbo).

If you wanted the power and couldn't do both at once - but knew FOR SURE you were going to do both, I'd do the injectors first... it's easier to lay off the loud pedal than it is to wait for boost from a big turbo and not enough power to spool it.

Since you are going with DDP injectors, call THEM and ask them what turbo they would recommend for your application. Make sure the parts all work together. Since they build the injectors, they should (and will) know what turbo will work good with them.

Also, make sure 50hp is all you want from injectors. Most 50hp guys end up regretting the purchase and go bigger down the road.

DTT transmission/TC are first item of my upgrade list, as budget allows.

Stock TC under stiff acceleration is easy to slip 800+ rpm, all thrown away power, plus engine de-fuels after about that much slip.

Instead up making more power, a large fraction of which will be thrown away via TC, why not address where perfectly good power is being thrown away right now?

Gets you the nominal increase you're looking for, no additional smoke & EGT's worries, $$$$ of injectors & turbo roughly equal to transmission/TC upgrade.

Plus your current upgrades are already at threshold of OEM transmission/TC limits.

I agree with the transmission first, if you don't you will hate getting towed from out in the middle of nowhere.

No sense in ADDING power then not being able to lay it down with a tore up transmission. Plus, there are TONS of trucks laying down BIG #'s on stock injectors. Also, you can have a decient transmission for what a set of injectors will run you. (3G's running $2800 to $3800 for a set of injectors)

Do the transmission first. Your truck will be a completely different animal. My personal recipe after that, is fuel first, then more air. Then more fuel... :D

Thanks everyone! Goerend TQ Conv & VB & Trans overhaul almost done... . today. All I have to do is save more $ for the next move-more engine power. I think I'll pursue a 62mm turbo before the injectors. I just hate the smoky end of things so I'll definately predicate my next truck mods with a call to DDP to assure that the turbo & injectors will interface well w/ each other.

Lenny's crew is great you can't go wrong with them. They are almost in my backyard, just about 10 miles. Your missing it not to be able to see them in person and the shop that they have. Lenny makes sure that when a item is put into a truck that he puts his money where his mouth is so you get what you pay for!!!!
