Have an '05 3500. Son has a 04. 5 2500. Both 48RE's and stock and used to pull 6-10k at times. Probably don't really need BUT want to install some gauges to keep track of conditions and to forwarn a future problem.

Both thinking 3 gauges. I like 2 on the steering column/1 on lower pillar. Son likes 3 on the pillar.

Q#1 - Which gauges would be the most useful? Thinking AT Temp, fuel pressure(esp on the 04. 5 w the old style LP) and EGT.

Q#2 - How difficult are these installs? Is this something an average do-it-yourself'er can handle? Have done some "gauge install" searches on the forum and seems a little involved. Am I overly concerned here?

Appreciate your thoughts here... ...

If you can handle wiring up some extra lights, you can handle the gauge install. Go to Geno's for the gauge packs. My dad has his on the A pillar, I was not very comfortable with them there. I used the dash pod, I did not want to increase my blind spot on the A pillar. I find it is easier to check them up there between the road and the dash. Fuel pressure on the 3rd Gens are not as problematic as earlier models. I went with Boost, EGT, and transmission temp. The last 2 are probably the most critical to monitor when bombed or towing.

I put the EGT and boost on my 05 on the pillar.

When I get serious about towing Im going to add a transmission gauge on the column.

IMO, either Diprocol or Issopro match the newer dash great.

Iv got Issopro.

I did the SRT-10 pillar with a boost gage and a column mount for the Pyro.

Install wasn't bad at all (except for drilling the mainofld, but that was more nervousness than difficulty).

BTW, I went with DiPricols.

gauges

I would put transmission, Pyro, and if you need the fuel pressure. I am redoing mine to add the fuel. Kind of a pain having to redo the two gauge install. Should have done the three right off the bat.

Whatever gauges you decide to do, EGT, Boost, fuel pressure , I would reccomend Autometer Lunar series. They Have indiglo lighting and are just about a PERFECT match to the stock dash lights...

pretty simple install. mostly straight forward. just a matter of where you want the gauges to be. i've got the FP srt-10 pillar mount (not installed when pic was taken)& pyro/boost column mount.

I too would like to install some gages on my truck to keep track of conditions and to forwarn a future problem.

I understand IF you have the supplemental air bag you can't or perhaps it's shouldn't use the A-Pillar gage mount.

I understand if I do install some gages it could void my warranty I hope someone will address this

Do you know if they make this gauge in a 0-15 psi fuel pressure gauge?

I could see Dodge voiding the warrantee, because you will find out the truth about their worthless gauges (ie: oil pressure). (Just kidding!)

Does the column mounted gauges both you while watching speedo & tach?, to those that have mounted them that way??

no not for me. i keep the column in one place so i can see all the stock gauges as well. you can see the speedo & tach just fine, 0 to full sweep. the only thing it blocks is the odometer and the gear select places. otherwise just lean one way a little to see them as well.
