My wife has the Garmin IQ3600 PDA with the built in GPS. It is defintely portable, and works pretty good. Take a look at their site:

I have a Palm Zire 71 with a GPS add-on. I'm using DeLorme Street Atlas for the maps, but don't like the display nearly as well as my wifes IQ3600.



Loading the maps in either unit takes a little practice, and you will need an expansion memory card for either of them, to load a large area, but it is doable. The only problem I see is that the battery life is not too great, so you would have to be able to recharge them in your vehicle, or have a aux battery pack add-on to extend the battery life. Have fun...

I have the Garmin 76CS with US Topo and City Select v6. It doesn't talk but does everything else. I use it while driving, it has autorouting. I switch to the Topo map when using it on my WR450 Yamaha when offroad trail riding.



I highly recommend it for a great, very versatile, all-round GPS. #ad

Just under $400 with the rebates. Comes with Mapsource (to load maps) but no Maps other than the simple basemap. I think CitySelectV6 goes for around $100, so 5 bills all set up. Oh, plus the mount and cords.

I got the Garmin GPSMAP 276C with auto kit. It takes Blue Charts for marine use and Topo for off road. The unit has voice directions. I put the language to British. She tells me in proper English where to go.



Best place for research GPS City.

Its pretty nice for a small one, about the size of a cell phone. For driving its better to pull over or have a passenger operate it. Toss it in a back pack for hiking. I toss it in a fanny pack to check out unfamiliar areas on the dirt bike.



There are mounts available for bicycles, motorcycles/ATV's & auto's but I just keep it in my console most of the time.
