Anyone know a good grill guard to protect the front end of our trucks? I'm mostly interested in something that will be deer proof. Any testimonials would be helpful. I don't have the money for a Denver Bumper or anything like that. Just need something to protect the radiator and intercooler. Thanks in advance.

Check this out???

:) I was in co a few weeks ago in my 99- 2500 Diesel touring with my wife and we had to take a big 4x4 Sign Post out to avoid a car. The Grill Gard on my truck( Mr Pick Up) Saved us and the Man 's Car that pulled out in front of me... I got a new one ,and after looking at the old one, i put the old one back on. If your interested in a bran New one in the Box let me know. Just E- Mail Me below. Happy Truckin..... Bill

Personally I like the aliarc bull bar. It is very nicely polished aluminum and protects the factory bumper more than some of the grill guards out there. This company make full replacement bumpers as well but that is more money and takes some of the factory look away from the classic design of our dodges. They also make grill guards for semi trucks and seem to be very popular if you look around you can see some of their products. I was quoted about $550 for the bull bar, but haven't yet purchased one. Pictures can be seen at www.aliarc.com

MR Pick UP Gard

As my article above explained I think those Mr Pick up Grills are real good . This one kept the Post from getting into the Radaitor. I was so pleased with the old one and couldn't find any damage to it i decided to sell the new one and put the old one back on . so if any of you want one contack me on here. tks Bill Oo. Oo. Oo.

FDNYMOPARGUY,

If you just need protection from deer I'll sit on your hood with a bow (if you drive slow) or a 12 gauge and we can cruise around SI for a while for free:D ;)

I put a "Mr. Pickup" grill guard on my 2001 GMC after hitting a deer with my new Accord (miles from nowhere). $4,800 worth of damage to the Honda. I haven't done anything yet on my new Dodge but am leaning more toward something like the Aliarc or Ute bumpers as I think it would offer much more protection. The grill guard would probably protect the radiator so you could drive the rig and not get stranded. But, the factory bumpers are so flimsy that maybe this would not be the case. I would think the headlight protectors would bend back and you would still have body damage.

The replacement bumpers with grill guards are a lot heavier duty and, at the height that they are, would hopefully take a deer head on and vaporize it. One thing's for sure, there's a lot of expensive stuff that can be protected with a sturdy enough bumper. I hate the thought of doing major damage to a brand new truck. Having the truck laid up for weeks for repairs isn't something to look forward to and you tend to loose some confidence in a rig after extensive repairs.

As you can tell, I'm trying to talk myself into spending big bucks for a new bumper. I'm hoping to keep this truck for a long time. If that's the case, a guy should just bite the bullet and install a bumper right away. With my luck, I'll put it off a couple of years or, worse yet, buy a new bumper after a wreck. I live in a small town with quite a few body shops. Deer collision repair business is booming here, even in town.

I really like mine

but it came on the truck, so I don't know who made it or how much and I haven't tested it. I almost caught a Goldwing with it yesterday--his fault and his dirty drawers.

Probably good for a medium sized deer up to about 60mph. Of course you never know what a buck's antlers will poke into. Never hit a deer, but I'm always looking for them and blow the horn anytime they're near the roadway. And "deer whistles" are useless garbage.

Spanky's Bush Push at Wildcat is the real deal.

Last weekend the Jeep club was in Eastern Washington. Our club pulled over to verify directions at midnite. As soon as we stopped a small car passed us. Once our convoy was back on the road we were flagged down by the small car around the next bend. The car hit 2 of 3 deer in the road. Only stopping to confer with the map saved one of our vehicles. Occupants of the car were ok. Driver sustained non-threatening glass cuts. Passenger had no injuries. State Patrol and family were enroute when we left. Might be time for an upgrade.

ouch... ... ... . ive seen what those deer will do to a stock bumper... ... . theyre tuff but not tuff enough... ... thats why i opted for the full replacement. my outlook was if i was gonna spend the cash on a grill guard i might as well spend a litl bit more and get the real thing and not a chrome grill guard that is for looks... ... ... . i havent seen a deer bust up a ranchhand yet. . maybe an elephant... ... ..... :D
