Which Guages

I have a 3500, 5. 9, 3. 73 automatic and I pull a 13k trailer. I am having a pacbrake put on next week and would like to put an EGT guage and possibly a trans temp guage.



If you werre installing only tow guages in this situation, would these be the two you put in? Anything else to consider - we will be going through the Rockies.



What type of mount would you guys/gals suggest? I hate to lose my handle by having to install on the A-pillar. Any real nice ideas?

I think I would also try to include a boost gauge, but if I had to choose between boost and pyro I would certainly choose the pyro.

I just did the a piller tripple mount with the isspro boost, egt, transmission temp guages... . and it's a very nice setup..... I dont know why everyone's concerned about the grab handle... . the steering wheel's right there and works just as well..... I've only had them for a few days... . but they match pretty good to the standard guages / lighting, I dont miss the grab handle, and the pilliar blind spot is no worse than it was without the guages... .



That being said, you could do a tripple overhead mount with the 3 guages... . if your too concerned with the grab handle... . but agree with above, should do the boost if your doing the other 2, as it's the cheapest of the three and the easiest install..... and you can use it to verify your trucks running well (and no boost leaks)...



I do plan on installing a fuel pressure guage if / when I put on a fuel box... .

I too have a set of guages from ISSPRO, which can be purchased through our sponsor, Geno's Garage. The A pillar set up is very nice, everything matches the stock colors and instrument cluster styling. I'd have to agree with investing into a boost guage in conjunction with the other two guages.

What does a boost guage do? I've heard my EGT's and trans. temps were the most important. The truck is stock.



Any idea how much it should cost to have the 3 guages installed (labor only)?

The boost gauge tells you in psi, what amount of boost is being fed into the intake side of the engine. Once you establish what your normal pressures are under different conditions, by monitoring this gauge you can catch certain performance problems early. Boost gauges are very handy for identifying clogged air filters, ruptured boost hoses and fueling problems. I don't have any idea what a shop would charge to install this set up. It is not a hard job, but to do it right takes some time I would guess maybe 4 hours to do the triple gauge set. There are some who could do it faster but I like to take my time and end up with a neat installation.

The BD X-Monitor has 3 gauges (Boost, EGT and Trans Temp) that mount on the pillar and you don't lose the grab handle. They are digital gauges, no needles or dials. I like mine very much.

I've been happy with the Apillar ISSPRO gauges on mine ... it's really the way to tell what the engine is doing and how the transmission responds to the engine's action

I'm installing Geno's new a-pillar singal guage mount. Won't lose the "grab" handle with a dual pyro/boost WESTACH guage (backordered)!



Keep the pillar.

Monitor Boost and Temp.

Best of both worlds

I would go EGT and transmission, I just did a triple guage install, bought everything from Geno's, EGT, Pyro, Boost, all autometer and the mount was from Guageworks. The mount goes right above my rear view mirror and the phantom II guages look nice. Just have to hit the parts department and the Dodge house and get the interior paint to match it up. Very easy and striaghtforward.

Geno's Garage also has a 3 gauge mount that sits on the dash against the windshield that is in a good position that you do not have to take you eyes off of the road to read. They have a selection of gauge manufatures and are willing to help you make the right gauge choices and back it up with tech suport.

If you just want the two, how about this pod above your mirror and they have paint to match. Then you could use this gauge and this one



A real clean set up IMO and should match your dash gauges nicely.



Another idea is to use this mount and a SPA Dual gauge, specifically the DG210B that will do both trans and EGT. I did that set up on my 03 before I added more gauges.
