Hello all, Diesel Newbie question here.

I am interested in upgrading my injectors and trying to figure out which ones will work best for me. I tow a 9000# camp trailer a few times a year, other than that just back and forth to work.

There are the Bosch 275's and the DD stage 1 and 2 Jammers, all of which offer a 50-80 HP increase. The DD Jammers are quite a bit more than the Bosch, are they worth it?

I just put the Rv275's in my truck over the weekend, and so far I'm very happy. I'm putting a set of the DD3 nozzles or something like that in my buddy's truck this coming weekend. I think those will get really hot though. Right now, with my box on stage 5 I can hit 1500* with the 275's. I've heard they are a great towing injector though, and only having run less than half a tank through it, I'm not sure if my milage is up, but basing it off the gauge and the trip, It looks like it is. I don't know what price you've found on 275's also reffered to as bosch 300's by some. But I can get them for $295 shipped, no core charge. If thats a better deal than you're finding, shoot me a pm and I'll help get you dialed.

Thanks for the info Sean, I've heard great things about the Bosch injectors and the price is definately better. How touchy is it to replace them, I've re-built gas engines and know my way around a garage pretty well, door in the front, wall in the back :) , but I'm don't want to screw something up. I was told by a Dealer Mechanic that after inserting the injectors, not to tighten them up untill the fuel lines are inserted and tightened, does this sound right. I also printed the Diesel Dynamics instructions, they are a little different.

These instructions are VERY good and straight forward. If you are an ok mechanic, then it isn't that bad of a job. When i did mine, i put the new injector in, making sure that the old one came out with the copper washer, and then new one went in with a new copper washer, and then popped the cross over tube back in, this will line up everything, and then tighten down the injector hold down bolt to i think 26 or 27 in-lbs, the diesel dynamics instructions have the exact torque, and then go on. The nuts on the end of the lines are somewhat of a pain to the the the back cylinders, to a crow's foot may help. I haven't had to use one yet, but i could see where someone would need it. Anymore questions, just ask away!!!

Yeah, mine were really easy to install. However, I hadn't done a 24v before, so I made the mistake of pulling the injection lines all the way off. Big mistake, this added quite a bit of time and unnecessary hassle to the whole process. Other than that it was really straight forward. And IMO much easier than the 12v. If you have a decent set of wrenchs you can do this job in probably 2-2. 5 hours, the first time, unless you are super natural. I think it could be done in about 1-1. 5 though, if you had the experience of having done it before.

The injector hold down bolt should be torqued to 89 inch pounds. The actual injector line nuts should be tightened to 28 ft lbs.

Hope that helps.

BTW, I would go with F1 injectors if it were me (Mach 1. 6, 3, 6, etc... )

Do some reading on here before you buy something that you'll just want to replace later down the road.

There's TONS of info on the TDR about them, or you can go to the F1 Diesel website to get a short description of each.

These frequently go on sale. Usually a 10% off deal or a no core charge offer.

Bottom line is, these are the best injectors available for the 24V Cummins. The power stated for each is what they really put to the ground, and they are going to burn cleaner than any other injector out there rated at the same power. In fact, they usually burn cleaner than injectors rated at much less HP. Member Justin Hohn went from DD2s (80HP?) to Mach 4s (150HP) and was amazed at the lower EGTs and less smoke than he had with the DD2s. That's your typical F1 injector story right there.

I can drive my Mach 5s (200HP) all day long without puffing a bit of smoke. It's pretty impressive when you think about it.

As far as which ones you go with, you need to sit down and really think about where you would like to end up power wise and what you are going to be doing with your truck.

I have also run the 1. 6s and they are a great injector to tow with. They are a nice kick in the pants too.

Just FYI, in your HO truck:

Bosch 275RV = 38-42hp increase

DD Jammer 1 = 65+hp increase

DD Jammer 2 = 90+hp increase

I ran a set of 275's with a Practical Solutions Boost Module way back when I first started playing. I loved it!!

But, it eventually led to a disease that has no knows cure!!!!

Your stock clutch will start to slip at 750 Foot pounds of torque

Definitely research and ask a lot of questions. My observation has been that most guys who have only run one brand of injector, whatever brand it is, like whatever they have. They are all better then stock (at least as far as power goes)

But most 24valve guys who have tried a few different brands of injectors will tell you F1 mach injectors are the best (assuming they've tried them). I am in this category. Don's injectors are awesome. Without a doubt they get my vote.

OK, so here is what I'm thinking about adding to my truck in this order, I already have 4" exhaust and modified air box with K&N,

Diesel Dynamics pusher pump upgrade kit

Diesel Dynamics stage 2 80 hp injectors

Edge Comp or Diesel Dynamic Ultimate Fueling Module

Is this too much to start with, or will this be better than settling for Bosch 275's and an Edge EZ that will probably just get me hooked and wishing I had gone to the next step?

thanks for the info!

boxes

Every company thst makes a box that tapps the pump wire says its a safe thing to do. Oo.

Every company that sells injection pumps say tapping the pump wire will void the pump warranty to some degree (including Bosch and Dodge). :{

Try to get your power without tapping the pump wire, or you can pay later like I had to. I have edge comp with out pump wire tapped and a new Hot Rod VP44 from http://www.pdwpower.com/

Just my past experience. :D

I would just invest in a fuel pressure guage before I put in the fuel system upgrade.

Guage is sitting on the bench, isolator is being delivered tomorrow and installed this weekend.

Looks like I'm gonna eaze back down on the HP upgrades to 275's and an EZ, seems to be a great package for the $$

thanks for all the info guys.

Another good option would be a Smarty and Jammer 2's. PM Bob Wagner for the Smarty. I got Jammer 2's from City Diesel for under $350.

This is pretty much what I have in my truck... along with a DTT trans... . I am way happy with the power/torque... . you'll love it... . I mostly drive on 2/2... way good power... then tire frying power on the 5 settings... if'n you need it...

Huh?

I may be the only one on this Planet that will say that I HATED the EDM 2's, no bad mouthing here, just that Im 100% happier running the 275's. WAY WAY smoother:)

I did the same, backed down to 275's, way happier, would like to hear from you:)
